Verlander To New York: Thanks For The Memories … and the $86 Million …

VERLANDER TO NEW YORK – There have been good days and bad days this season. We go into crunch time 232-193 on the season, with a minus -$165 bankroll. The trade deadline has come and gone, and it’s time to put up or shut up! I like a lot of chalk today. Let’s have at it!

Houston (-145) At Yankees

Justin Verlander is back in Houston and the Astros are the play here. Verlander has been lights out his last three starts with an ERA of 1.67. Houston is hitting now with their team at full strength. The Yankees are in a funk, and they can’t gain any consistency at the dish.

Pick: Houston (-145)

DraftKings

Rays (-145) at Tigers

Tampa appears to be out of their July catastrophe and is now playing better in August. This is the first start for Aaron Civale and we look for another quality outing from the right hander.

Tigers have lost seven of 10, and the bottom line is if the Rays are going to make the playoffs they have to win these games. Remember, Tampa has made their whole season by beating up on losing teams. The Tigers fit the bill.

Pick: Rays (-145)

Mets at Birds (-190)

The Mets have packed it in. Losers if four straight, they may finish below Washington in the N.L. East. Buck needs to go home and play golf. The Orioles are now the team to beat in the A.L. East. Kyle Gibson has been steady enough to win.

You just have to fade the Mets for the remainder of the season – or at least until they promote some rooks in the September call up. This team is now playing for paychecks in the first and the fifteenth. They are mailing it in.

Pick: Birds (-190)

Giants (-170) at A’s

The Giants have turned it around, winning their last three while the hapless A’s are on a four game skid. San Francisco needs a sweep here to close the gap on the Dodgers, which is now three games. With Dodgers reliever Joe Kelly throwing at batters again, this race will go down to the wire. Either the Giants or for real or they are not. If they are, they have to beat Oakland in August.

Pick: Giants (-170)

FUN My Pillow

M’s (-145) at Angels

This Angels team can’t close out a game. They have lost four straight and Ohtoni is sobbing on the bench while he watches his beloved Angels implode.

After trading their closer Paul Seward at the deadline Seattle looked like sellers, then they reeled off three in a row and have moved within 2.5 games of the last WC slot.

This Angels team is turning into a real sad sack team, where everything for them keeps going wrong late in games. They blew another game in last two innings last night. I have to fade the poor Angels until they win a few games. They needed to get  back end bull-pen help at the deadline and failed to do so. #Sad.

Pick: Mariners (-145)
