Vegas Golden Knights vs. Dallas Stars Expert Pick – May 29, 2023
VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS VS. DALLAS STARS EXPERT PICK – May 29, 2023 — Now it’s Vegas that has to get this turned around after playing one of its worst games of the season. The Golden Knights had a chance to finish off Dallas at home and instead handed the Stars a lifeline with 24 turnovers.
The Stars have stepped up their play over the past two games with a more aggressive forecheck, and the Golden Knights haven’t really adjusted all that well. And things only get harder now, as Jamie Benn comes back to the lineup after his two-game suspension from checking Mark Stone.
But despite poor puckhandling last time out, Vegas played Dallas even for 40 minutes. If the Golden Knights can cut back on the turnovers and handle the pressure, they can put an end to this series. Getting a few power plays would also help; the Golden Knights have had just one power play in the past two games.

Vegas vs. Dallas In-Season Trends
This continues to be a low-scoring series, and it remains very low scoring at the American Airlines Center. Both games in Dallas went UNDER, and that’s now nine straight between these teams that have gone under in Texas. Scoring chances just aren’t coming around very often, as three out of five meetings and 15 of the past 22 have gone UNDER.
Three straight losses also doesn’t happen very often for the Golden Knights. The last time that Vegas dropped three straight was the New York/New Jersey road swing back at the end of January. On the other side of the coin, Dallas has been at its best in this format; the Stars have gone 19-7 in their past 26 games playing on one day’s rest.
Players to Watch
Jason Robertson is rolling, and that makes Dallas a very dangerous squad. Robertson was almost silent in the wins over Minnesota and Seattle, but against Vegas, he’s been the Stars’ main man. He’s scored in four of five games, notching two goals in Game 4 and scoring six points in the series. With Jamie Benn coming back, Vegas will have to concede even more space to Robertson.
Jonathan Marchessault is also back on his game after a tough first two rounds. Like Robertson, Marchessault has six points in this series, as he’s gone for three goals and three assists. He’s now on four consecutive games with at least one point, and there’s plenty to suggest he’ll keep that up for Vegas.
The Pick
The best way to bet this series has been to take the underdog on the puckline. So far, all five games have seen the visiting team either win the game outright or lose by one goal, cashing a puckline play.
As such, we’re going to try a repeat of that in a series that’s been a tight contest. Throw in the under continuing to dominate this series, and you’ve got two pretty solid trends to play.
