UFC London DFS Lineup
UFC LONDON DFS LINEUP – There are two mainstays to play DFS for MMA; DraftKings and FanDuel. Each has its own scoring rules and variations, but they are similar. Here are DraftKings’ scoring rules and FanDuel’s scoring rules. I will always list fighters I think should be selected as MVP at the top and will use DraftKings budget to model my projections.
MVP Pick
Tom Aspinall $9,700
If this were boxing, this bout could be called a tune-up fight. Aspinall is returning from a year-long layoff due to injury and is facing the tenth-ranked heavyweight while ranked fifth. He is in his home country and is a heavy favorite. The oddsmakers are not wrong this time. He excels on the mat and has powerful hands. Tybura is a solid all-around fighter, but cannot match the athleticism of Aspinall. The under 1.5 rounds is -165 at DraftKings. He should have a quick night at the office.
Other Picks
Nathaniel Wood $9,200
Nathaniel Wood will face Andre Fili in an intriguing featherweight matchup. Fili is five inches taller and has a five-inch reach advantage. That may become an issue against Fili, who lands powerful shots.
Wood has the speed and strength advantage, however. Fili has been in the UFC since 2013 and has loads of experience. His record in the promotion is 10-8 with one no-contest. He has holes in his game and can get taken down by good wrestlers like Wood.
Wood will also have the crowd rooting for him since he was born in London. The move up to featherweight has been good for him thus far, and he should have enough answers to beat Fili.
Jafel Filho $8,300
Jafel Filho is taking on Daniel Barez in the flyweight division in the opening fight. Barez fought on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2021 but lost and did not earn a contract. He has been active on the regional circuit since then, with four victories. Jafel Filho received a contract on DWCS but lost his debut to Muhammad Mokaev. Filho has the advantage on the mat and can compete on the feet, especially as the fight progresses.
Barez is making his UFC debut and will likely get tired. Filho has more advantages and can earn significant points, given the pace of flyweight matchups.
Danny Roberts $8,000
Danny Roberts is another English fighter performing in front of his home crowd. Roberts is fighting Jonny Parsons in the welterweight division. Roberts has a five-inch reach advantage and has 13 fights in the UFC.
Parsons is making his UFC debut after competing on the DWCS in 2021. This matchup seems favorable for Roberts to end his two-fight skid and get a victory in front of the home crowd.
Yanal Ashmouz $7,800
Chris Duncan and Yanal Ashmouz will fight third in the prelims in the lightweight division. Ashmouz won his debut against Sam Patterson by first-round knockout.
Duncan lost his first fight on DWCS but won his second opportunity and UFC debut. Duncan has lots of experience as an amateur but leaves opportunities for opponents. He got hurt in recent bouts, and Ashmouz has powerful hands to make him pay for being exposed.
Paul Craig $6,900
Paul Craig is moving down to middleweight to debut in the division. He is fighting Andre Muniz, a talented submission artist. It is a fascinating matchup as both men specialize in jiu-jitsu and have won most of their fights by submission. It may turn into a striking match, which should favor Paul Craig. He has demonstrated power at light heavyweight against tough opponents, while Muniz has not.
Neither man has tremendous technique, but Craig hits harder and should be able to land more than Muniz.
