Charles Jourdain (15-7-1) vs Jean Silva (12-2)

Looking to rebound from a loss in his home country to Sean Woodson back in January, Jourdain looks to bring his exciting striking stylings to a solid out crowd once again. It’s obvious Jourdain will likely never find himself in title contention but will always be a reliable fighter for the UFC to throw onto cards like this to bring the fireworks and put on an exciting show. He is a fun striker, has some slick BJJ, but doesn’t seem to have what it takes to get over the hump. Read UFC 303 three best moneyline bets.

Silva was scheduled to compete in May, but his opponent failed to make weight and looked to be on death’s doorstep when he was on the scale, thus the fight was cancelled. Riding a nine-fight winning streak, Silva is hoping to add the biggest name to his win column this weekend. Silva is fast, explosive, and carries a good deal of power as well. He trains out of an emerging camp from Brazil, headed by fellow UFC fighter, Caio Borralho.

This should be a fantastic matchup between two guys that love to show out in the striking realm with flying and spinning techniques. I lean ever so slightly to the Silva side as I believe he brings better physicality to the cage, he should be slightly faster, and I think he carries more power than Jourdain. In a close fight like this, especially with the odds, I’m happy to take a shot on the Brazilian. Credit to you if you got in earlier this week to secure some plus money on Silva.

Ian Machado Garry (14-0) vs Michael Page (22-2)

The challenges only get steeper and tougher for Garry as he takes on a high-level striker this weekend. Garry has largely shown off his striking throughout his UFC run, but I fully expect him to lean on his grappling this weekend. People who have dug deep enough, especially into Garry’s Cage Warriors days, will be aware of his ability to grapple and smother opponents on the mat. Say what you want about his out-of-cage antics, it is hard to deny his 14-0 record and skill level.

Making an emphatic UFC debut earlier this year, Page put a whooping on Kevin Holland and won the fight on the scorecards. We did see a bit of his flaw in the second round with Holland securing some control time on the mat, but for the most part Page has done a stellar job throughout his career to stop from being out grappled. As he gets older, though, it will be tough for him to keep up that level of takedown defense, reflexes, and speed, something he is largely reliant on.

I think we’ll see a new wrinkle to Garry’s game this weekend, specifically in his UFC campaign. He has shown off grappling dominance during his come up and I feel we’ll see him do it once again. It helps that he trains alongside Charles Oliveira, so it would not at all surprise me to see him snatch up a submission either. I believe the line is as close as it is due to people expecting Garry just to strike with Page, but that will not be the case.

The Pick: Ian Machado Garry -150

Mayra Bueno Silva (10-3-1) vs Macy Chiasson (9-3)

Coming up short in her quest for gold in January, Silva looks to work her way back into the title picture by knocking up an up and comer. Silva is very dangerous, with five of her six victories in the UFC coming by finish. Although, one of those were changed to a no contest after she had a positive drug test after her fight against Holly Holm. She’s somewhat low volume but throws with serious heat and often seeks submissions.

Looking to get some momentum going, Chiasson is coming off a dominant first round submission victory over Pannie Kianzad back in March. Chiasson has been inconsistent over her last five fights, alternating wins and losses. Her last loss looked like a fight she was about to win but ended up getting stopped with one of the most unique finishes we’ve ever seen, when Aldana upkicked her to the liver and dropped her. Chiasson is strong, likes to bully her opponents, and smothers they with her grappling.

There has been significant line movement in this fight as Chiasson went from being a +175 underdog now to around pick ‘ems. A lot of people love Chiasson and so do I. I feel she is more active and can really wear on Silva early, then start taking over late as Silva starts to slow. Silva will be dangerous early, but I think Chiasson has rounded out her game well enough to still pull off the victory.

The Pick: Macy Chiasson -105
