NHL Trade Deadline: Three Players the Rangers Should Target
NHL. TRADE DEADLINE –Â With the Stanley Cup playoffs looming and the trade deadline approaching, the New York Rangers are in the market for a right-winger.
If they want to make a run for the playoffs, the Rangers need to upgrade at right-winger soon, so here are three players the Rangers could trade for.
Reuniting Artemi Penarin with Patrick Kane?
There is no doubt that a reunion with New York Ranger’s left-winger, Artemi Panarin, and Chicago Blackhawks’ right-winger, Patrick Kane, would be the ideal move for the Rangers to make.
Kane’s recent hip injury could lower his trade stock. The Rangers would be savvy to target him before the deadline.
The Rangers have had interest in Kane for a while now and they could very well make this trade happen.
It would be the first time two played side by side together since 2017. Kane and Panarin combined for 346 points in their two years together with the Blackhawks.
Vladimir Tarasenko
The St. Louis Blues right-winger, Vladimir Tarasenko, would be a solid trade for the Rangers.
Tarasenko has had a very good season thus far. He was named the St. Louis Blues all-star earlier this season and has recorded 10 goals, 19 assists, and 29 points thus far.
Tarasenko’s trade value has risen since the start of the season. In order to get a real done, the Rangers would probably have to give up a 1st round draft pick and a high-end prospect.
The high asking price worries me, but this is the 3rd best option for the New York Rangers as we near the deadline.
Timo Meier to the Rangers?
The San Jose Sharks right-winger, Timo Meier, would be the perfect trade for the New York Rangers to make.
Meier’s elite skill would be an instant impact on this team. Pairing him with Panarin would be an ideal move for a Stanley Cup run.
The asking price will be high for Meier, but with all the talent on this Rangers roster, they will absolutely be in an all-in mood heading towards the deadline.
Would the Rangers move on from Alexis Lafrenière or Kaapo Kakko? Regardless, it would still be a great move to make before the it’s too late. Meier has had a great season with 25 goals, 20 assists, 45 points and counting.
If the New York Rangers are 100% all in on a playoff run they need to pull the trigger on a trade.
One of those three players would be a great addition to the team.
