NFL Week 8 Power Rankings

Thoughts |
1 | Kansas City Chiefs
(previously: 1) |
6-0 | Patrick Mahomes is having a down season, but the Chiefs are the only undefeated team remaining. He has six TDs and eight interceptions this season and is averaging 231.5 passing yards per game. They play the Raiders in Las Vegas this week. |
2 | Baltimore Ravens
(previously: 5) |
5-2 | The duo of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry still looks unstoppable. Jackson threw for five TDs against Tampa Bay, while Henry ran for 169 yards and caught a TD. They are in prime form after their fifth consecutive win. |
3 | Detroit Lions
(previously: 3) |
5-1 | The Lions offense is on fire right now. They are averaging 40 points per game in their last three games. David Montgomery has six rushing TDs, and Jahmyr Gibbs has five with a receiving TD. They get the Titans at home after a tough victory in Minnesota. |
4 | Minnesota Vikings
(previously: 2) |
5-1 | The Vikings suffered their first loss of the season, but it was not a bad loss at all. Sam Darnold led the offense well, but the defense could not slow down the explosive Lions’ offense. The next four games are against the Rams and three consecutive against AFC South teams. |
5 | Buffalo Bills
(previously: 6) |
5-2 | Amari Cooper played 35% of snaps but caught four passes for 66 yards and a TD. The passing offense looked better, with Keon Coleman contributing four for 125 yards. Josh Allen had his first 300-yard passing game. They will look to improve as they travel to Seattle this week. |
6 | Green Bay Packers
(previously: 7) |
5-2 | Jordan Love has missed two games this season but is tied for second with 15 passing TDs. He is not playing perfectly, but he is winning games. He should be in for a big day against the Jaguars this week. |
7 | Houston Texans
(previously: 4) |
5-2 | C.J. Stroud did not play well enough to beat the Packers. He completed 10 of 21 passes for 86 yards. He failed to connect with Tank Dell on four targets, and Stefon Diggs had five catches for 23 yards. They play the Colts at home this week. |
8 | Pittsburgh Steelers
(previously: 10) |
5-2 | Russell Wilson looked rusty to begin but settled in and finished strong. The Steelers scored 37 points against a tough Jets defense. Wilson and George Pickens should connect on several deep balls throughout the season. |
9 | Washington Commanders
(previously: 9) |
5-2 | The Commanders destroyed the Panthers last week, but the big news was Jayden Daniels’s injury. He injured his ribs, and Marcus Mariota replaced him. Mariota looks solid if Daniels misses. |
10 | Philadelphia Eagles
(previously: 12) |
4-2 | Injuries slowed the Eagles to start the season, but the offense looks much better with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith on the field. The defense sacked Daniel Jones eight times, and Quinyon Mitchell looked impressive against Malik Nabers. |
11 | Chicago Bears
(previously: 13) |
4-2 | The Bears could catch a break if Jayden Daniels cannot play this week. It could delay a matchup between the top picks, but the Bears would not complain. Caleb Williams and the offense looked solid before the bye and should have a good day against this defense. |
12 | Seattle Seahawks
(previously: 17) |
4-3 | Geno Smith had a solid game with two TDs and no interceptions. It was a solid road victory across the country in Atlanta. DK Metcalf sprained his MCL and is week-to-week. They have a tough matchup against the Bills. |
13 | Tampa Bay Buccaneers
(previously: 8) |
4-3 | The Buccaneers lost on Monday night, but they also lost Chris Godwin and Mike Evans. Mike Evans re-injured his hamstring, and Chris Godwin likely dislocated his ankle and will miss the season. Evans will return at some point, but the loss of Godwin is devastating. |
14 | Atlanta Falcons
(previously: 11) |
4-3 | Kirk Cousins had two interceptions and one fumble in the Falcons’ home loss to Seattle. Bijan Robinson had over 100 yards rushing, but turnovers killed their chances in this game. They play the battered Bucs this week. |
15 | San Francisco 49ers
(previously: 14) |
3-4 | Brandon Aiyuk tore his ACL and MCL and will miss the remainder of the season. Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall will have to step up in his absence. The 49ers play the Cowboys at home on Sunday night. |
16 | Denver Broncos
(previously: 19) |
4-3 | The Broncos defense is a big reason they are 4-3 right now, but Bo Nix is improving. He is a dual threat, too. He has 255 rushing yards on the season with three TDs. He is still learning as a passer but can contribute with his legs. |
17 | Los Angeles Chargers
(previously: 15) |
3-3 | Cameron Dicker made five field goals on Monday night against the Cardinals, but it was not enough. The Chargers were in this game until the end but lost because they could not find the end zone. Several receiving options were injured, but they must run the ball better moving forward. |
18 | Indianapolis Colts
(previously: 18) |
4-3 | Anthony Richardson has yet to complete 50% of his passes this season, but he finds a way to win. He led the team with 56 rushing yards on 14 carries, which may be more common moving forward, especially with Joe Flacco behind him. |
19 | Dallas Cowboys
(previously: 16) |
3-3 | Hopefully, Dak Prescott and the offense figured things out during the bye week. The offensive line has struggled, and the rushing attack is dead last. They catch the injured 49ers this week. |
20 | Cincinnati Bengals
(previously: 22) |
3-4 | Tee Higgins has received more targets than Ja’Marr Chase in four consecutive games. The offense looks much better with Higgins on the field. The Bengals need to play better at home, where they are 0-3. |
21 | Arizona Cardinals
(previously: 23) |
3-4 | The Cardinals got a much-needed victory on Monday night. The defense made several big plays, and Kyler Murray’s running ability was the difference. James Conner was solid, with 152 total yards. |
22 | New York Jets
(previously: 20) |
2-5 | Adding Davante Adams was not the answer for the Jets. They got blown out by the Steelers, and Adams only had 30 yards. Haason Reddick has decided to return, but it is tough to tell how much that will help. |
23 | Los Angeles Rams
(previously: 25) |
2-4 | Injuries have limited the Rams this season, but they likely get Cooper Kupp back this week. Matthew Stafford has been struggling without Kupp and Puka Nacua. They have a tough test against the Vikings on Thursday. |
24 | Miami Dolphins
(previously: 26) |
2-4 | Tua Tagovailoa is eligible to return this week against the Cardinals, and the Dolphins desperately need him. They have reached 15 points once in their last four games. |
25 | New Orleans Saints
(previously: 21) |
2-5 | The Saints have been ravaged by injuries this season. They have lost five consecutive games, and Derek Carr may not return soon. They go on the road to play the Chargers this week. |
26 | New York Giants
(previously: 24) |
2-5 | Daniel Jones has not thrown a TD at home this season, and the Giants looked awful. Saquon Barkley ran all over them in his return to MetLife Stadium. The Giants are now 0-4 at home. |
27 | Jacksonville Jaguars
(previously: 30) |
2-5 | The Jaguars ran the ball 39 times and only threw it 20 times in their win against the Patriots. Tank Bigsby was excellent on the ground, as he has been all season. They should continue to lean on their ground game moving forward. |
28 | Las Vegas Raiders
(previously: 27) |
2-5 | Gardner Minshew replaced the injured Aidan O’Connell, and the Raiders are in a tough spot. They could end up moving Maxx Crosby with the season unrecoverable. |
29 | Tennessee Titans
(previously: 28) |
1-5 | Mason Rudolph was not the answer at quarterback, but it likely did not matter against the Bills. They have another tough matchup at Detroit this week. |
30 | Cleveland Browns
(previously: 29) |
1-6 | Deshaun Watson tore his Achilles and will miss the remainder of the season. The Browns will likely have to start Jameis Winston. Nick Chubb scored a TD in his return if you want a positive twist on the Browns’ week. |
31 | New England Patriots
(previously: 31) |
1-6 | Drake Maye has performed admirably in his first two games, but Jerod Mayo is stealing the spotlight. I would not recommend calling your team soft in front of the media. |
32 | Carolina Panthers
(previously: 32) |
1-6 | The Panthers are awful, and their defense is somehow getting worse. They allow 34.7 points per game, 6.7 more than the closest team. |
