Thoughts

1 Kansas City Chiefs

(previously: 1)

5-0 The Chiefs did not lose the top spot because of a bye week. The other undefeated team was also on bye, so it worked out. Rashee Rice is out for the season, so Juju Smith-Schuster and others must step up.
2 Minnesota Vikings

(previously: 2)

5-0 The Vikings have a tough game at home against the Lions this week following a bye. Both teams lead the league in point differential: Vikings +63, Lions +60. It should be a fun matchup, especially if Aaron Jones (hip) can play.
3 Detroit Lions

(previously: 3)

4-1 The offense was running on all cylinders against the Cowboys. They scored 47 points, their second consecutive game with 40+ points. Aidan Hutchinson suffered a devastating injury to his leg, and his loss will be brutal to the Lions.
4 Houston Texans

(previously: 4)

5-1 Joe Mixon had an excellent game in his return from injury. He had 13 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown, with two catches and 30 yards and a TD. He makes this offense elite, even without Nico Collins.
5 Baltimore Ravens

(previously: 5)

4-2 No one can stop the Ravens offense. They average 205.3 rushing yards per game with the duo of Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson. They have rattled off four straight wins and are now tied for first in the AFC North.
6 Buffalo Bills

(previously: 6)

4-2 James Cook did not play on Monday, but Ray Davis stepped in with 152 combined yards. The Bills added Amari Cooper today, which will improve this offense immensely. Khalil Shakir is leading this team with 249 receiving yards.
7 Green Bay Packers

(previously: 8)

4-2 Jordan Love has been great since returning from injury. He is tied for second with 12 passing TDs and 282.8 yards per game. This team will be hard to beat as long as Love is healthy.
8 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

(previously: 9)

4-2 The Buccaneers had 594 total yards against the Saints. They scored 51 points and dominated in all aspects. Sean Tucker ran 14 times for 136 yards and one TD, replacing injured Rachaad White.
9 Washington Commanders

(previously: 7)

4-2 The Commanders kept it close with the Ravens but ran out of time. Jayden Daniels played well, though, with 269 yards and two touchdowns. They missed Brian Robinson; they only had 52 rushing yards as a team.
10 Pittsburgh Steelers

(previously: 12)

4-2 Russell Wilson will start this week against the Jets. Justin Fields has the team in a good spot at 4-2 and is playing well, but Tomlin is giving Wilson a shot. They will see if they can be better with Wilson instead of Fields.
11 Atlanta Falcons

(previously: 11)

4-2 The Falcons took care of business against the Panthers. They won 38-20, and did a lot of work on the ground. Bijan Robinson had two TDs and 95 yards, while Tyler Allgeier added 105 yards and a TD. The offense is trending up.
12 Philadelphia Eagles

(previously: 16)

3-2 It was a perfect game to get the offense back in a groove. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith returned from injuries, and both scored. The ground game could have been better, but it will start to all click.
13 Chicago Bears

(previously: 15)

4-2 Caleb Williams had another good game in London. He threw for 226 yards and four TDs with one interception. They will have a bye this week before going on the road for two consecutive games.
14 San Francisco 49ers

(previously: 14)

3-3 The 49ers will get a little rest after beating the Seahawks on Thursday night. They will need it before a Sunday afternoon contest at home against the Chiefs. Jordan Mason (shoulder) is day-to-day as the week starts.
15 Los Angeles Chargers

(previously: 21)

3-2 J.K. Dobbins ran 25 times for 96 yards and a TD after Gus Edwards was placed on injured reserve. It looks like he will be the workhorse moving forward. Jim Harbaugh also returned to the sideline after experiencing atrial flutters, which is great news.
16 Dallas Cowboys

(previously: 10)

3-3 The Cowboys allow the third-most points (28) per game this season, which is not a recipe for success. Dak Prescott threw two interceptions and had 53 rushing yards as a team. Nothing went right for them, and they moved to 3-3 before the bye.
17 Seattle Seahawks

(previously: 13)

3-3 The Seahawks are still tied for first in the NFC West after three consecutive losses. They have allowed 35.7 points per game in their last three games, which is a problem. They will struggle to win games if the defense does not play better.
18 Indianapolis Colts

(previously: 22)

3-3 Joe Flacco did not play well but got the victory against the Titans. He connected with Michael Pittman Jr. on a 10-yard TD pass halfway through the fourth quarter to take a three-point lead. Anthony Richardson (oblique) and Jonathan Taylor (ankle) could return this week.
19 Denver Broncos

(previously: 17)

3-3 The Broncos’ biggest problem right now is consistency. Their offense is still a work in progress and will be until Bo Nix takes it to the next level. He will need some help on the ground because he led the team in rushing with 61 yards on six carries.
20 New York Jets

(previously: 18)

2-4 Davante Adams is the newest New York Jet. He rejoined his former teammate, Aaron Rodgers, and the Jets now have an elite offense. Rodgers, Adams, Garrett Wilson, and Breece Hall should give defenses fits for the rest of the season.
21 New Orleans Saints

(previously: 19)

2-4 Spencer Rattler did not play terribly against the Buccaneers, but you cannot expect him to score 50+ points to win the game. The Saints rank dead last in yards (395.8) allowed per game. The defense needs to play better to give their offense a chance.
22 Cincinnati Bengals

(previously: 23)

2-4 Joe Burrow started the game on Sunday night with a 47-yard touchdown run, and the Bengals got a much-needed victory over the Giants. It may have been an unconventional night on offense, but the defense stepped up, and they moved closer to .500.
23 Arizona Cardinals

(previously: 20)

2-4 Marvin Harrison Jr. suffered a concussion on Sunday, and the Cardinals sputtered on offense. The defense allows 27.2 points per game, so Kyler Murray and the offense must always be on point if they want to win.
24 New York Giants

(previously: 24)

2-4 It is a little worrisome that Malik Nabers missed another game due to his concussion. We will see if he clears the concussion protocol this week. The Giants only score 16 points per game and would benefit from Nabers returning.
25 Los Angeles Rams

(previously: 26)

1-4 Cooper Kupp could return as early as this week, which should give this team some life. The offense needs it because the defense allows 27.8 points per game.
26 Miami Dolphins

(previously: 28)

2-3 The Dolphins were on a bye week, and it could not have come at a better time. Tua Tagovailoa is still recovering from a concussion but could return soon. They are dead last with 12 points per game.
27 Las Vegas Raiders

(previously: 25)

2-4 Davante Adams was traded to the Jets for a conditional third-round pick. Brock Bowers should become the focal point of the offense, but points may be scarce.
28 Tennessee Titans

(previously: 27)

1-4 Calvin Ridley had eight targets but did not catch one. He has two catches in his last three games. Will Levis leads the league in interceptions, which is a big problem.
29 Cleveland Browns

(previously: 29)

1-5 The offensive woes continued for the Browns on Sunday. Their lone touchdown came via a blocked field goal return. This team has little chance with Watson under center.
30 Jacksonville Jaguars

(previously: 30)

1-5 The Jaguars allow 29.7 points per game, which is second-worst in the league. Trevor Lawrence can only do so much, especially when his receivers are dropping touchdowns.
31 New England Patriots

(previously: 31)

1-5 Drake Maye threw three TDs in his debut but had two interceptions. It is a step in the right direction for the young quarterback.
32 Carolina Panthers

(previously: 32)

1-5 They should just let Bryce Young develop with this bad team. They are not going to win, allowing 33.8 points per game.
