Thoughts |
1 |
Kansas City Chiefs
(previously: 1) |
2-0 | Harrison Butker saved the day with a 51-yard field goal. The Chiefs also got multiple fortunate breaks on their final two possessions to set them up for the victory. Chamarri Conner returned a fumble for a TD to put them up by one before the Bengals took a two-point lead with a field goal. It was a close one, but the Chiefs moved to 2-0. |
2 | Buffalo Bills
(previously: 7) |
2-0 | Josh Allen and the Bills rolled over the Dolphins on Thursday. James Cook scored three touchdowns, and the defense limited the Dolphins to 10 points. They have a home game against the Jaguars this week before a tough road stretch against the Ravens, Texans, and Jets. |
3 | Houston Texans
(previously: 8) |
2-0 | The Texans took care of business on Sunday night, beating the Bears 19-13. The defense combined for seven sacks and 11 quarterback hits. If they continue to pressure the quarterback, the Texans will be a Super Bowl contender with their high-powered offense. |
4 | San Francisco 49ers
(previously: 2) |
1-1 | The 49ers are still in the top five and have a tough divisional road game at Los Angeles this week. The 49ers’ fans should fill the stadium, though, so it is like a home game. Christian McCaffrey was placed on IR and will likely be out for at least six weeks. Deebo Samuel is dealing with a strained calf and could miss a couple of games. |
5 | Detroit Lions
(previously: 3) |
1-1 | Turnovers killed the Lions on Sunday. They had 463 total yards to the Buccaneers’ 216 and lost the game. They ran 83 plays, and the Bucs only ran 47. The Lions gave them a great field position and lost because of it. They have to take care of the football moving forward. |
6 | Los Angeles Chargers
(previously: 16) |
2-0 | The Chargers beat the Raiders in week one and rolled past the Panthers 26-3 in week two. I may be giving them too much respect, but the offense is playing a different brand of football under Jim Harbaugh. They are running the ball 59.66% of the time and putting less pressure on Justin Herbert. Their matchup with the Steelers this week will be telling if they deserve to be in the top 10. |
7 | Philadelphia Eagles
(previously: 5) |
1-1 | Kirk Cousins led the Falcons on a six-play, 70 yard scoring drive to win the game on Monday night. The Eagles had the game won after kicking a field goal with two minutes remaining, but the defense blew the game. The offense looks great with Saquon Barkley, but the defense needs to clean it up. |
8 | New Orleans Saints
(previously: 20) |
2-0 | The most surprising team from week two was the Saints destroying the Cowboys. They scored 35 in the first half and beat them 44-19 on the back of Alvin Kamara’s four touchdowns. It was an impressive victory on the road, but play the Eagles, who are coming off a horrible loss. |
9 | Baltimore Ravens
(previously: 6) |
0-2 | Baltimore suffered a crushing loss at home against the Raiders and fell to 0-2. They were outscored 13-7 in the fourth quarter and lost 26-23. Justin Tucker missed two field goals in two games and was not as automatic as he used to be. They have a tough upcoming schedule against the Cowboys, Bills and Bengals. |
10 | Dallas Cowboys
(previously: 4) |
1-1 | The Cowboys looked night and day from week one to week two. They got beat down by the Saints, but I would not be too worried. The Saints look like a top team in the league. The defense needs to play better moving forward, but they have the athletes to start performing. |
11 | Tampa Bay Buccaneers
(previously: 10) |
2-0 | Chris Godwin is off to a great start with 15 catches for 200 yards and two touchdowns. The running game is not as stellar, but they are winning games. Baker Mayfield has 474 yards with five TDs and one interception. They play the Broncos at home this week. |
12 | Pittsburgh Steelers
(previously: 11) |
2-0 | Justin Fields has led the Steelers to two victories to start the season. The problem is they have only scored one touchdown, but the defense has only allowed 16 points in two games. Their physicality will be tested against the Chargers and their offensive line. |
13 | Green Bay Packers
(previously: 14) |
1-1 | Malik Willis threw his first touchdown of his career and led the Packers to a 16-10 victory over the Colts. Jordan Love should only miss multiple weeks and dodge a major injury. The Packers have a favorable schedule (Titans, Vikings, and Rams) until Love gets back. |
14 | New York Jets
(previously: 15) |
1-1 | The Titans almost beat the Jets, but Will Levis could not score a TD near the goal line to tie the game. Rodgers only threw for 176 yards but had two touchdowns and did not turn the ball over. They play the tough Patriots’ defense on Thursday night. |
15 | Minnesota Vikings
(previously: 26) |
2-0 | Sam Darnold and the Vikings may be the most surprising 2-0 team. They beat the 49ers 23-17 at home, and the coaching staff has this team playing at a high level. They are getting after the quarterback, and Darnold is delivering the ball accurately to his playmakers. They are a good team and should not be taken lightly. |
16 | Cincinnati Bengals
(previously: 17) |
0-2 | The Bengals nearly left Kansas City with a victory, but a costly DPI let the Chiefs into field goal range on fourth and 16. The offense played a good game, and it is not time to worry. They need to right the ship this week against the Commanders. |
17 | Miami Dolphins
(previously: 9) |
1-1 | Tua Tagovailoa suffered a scary concussion against the Bills, and his status is unknown currently. He will surely be out multiple weeks, and Skylar Thompson will start at quarterback. They play the Seahawks in Seattle this week and will be looking to get back on track without Tua. |
18 | Seattle Seahawks
(previously: 13) |
2-0 | The Seahawks came away with a victory in overtime over the Patriots, but it was scary in the fourth quarter. The Patriots had 87.1% of victory in the fourth quarter but could not close the deal. The Seahawks are 2-0 and leading the NFC West. |
19 | Cleveland Browns
(previously: 24) |
1-1 | Deshaun Watson looked better in week two, but not great. Penalties are a problem for this team, with 24 through two games, which could be a problem against better teams. They play the Giants, Raiders, and Commanders next, which is a pretty easy stretch. |
20 | Atlanta Falcons
(previously: 23) |
1-1 | The Falcons were a Saquon Barkley catch away from losing the game on Monday night. The offense did not look great until the game-winning drive, but they still won. They have a tough stretch against the Chiefs, Saints, and Buccaneers (all at home). |
21 | Arizona Cardinals
(previously: 21) |
1-1 | Marvin Harrison Jr. had four catches for 130 yards and two TDs. The offense looked amazing, scoring 41 points and dominating on all fronts. They have a tough game against the Lions this week. |
22 | Los Angeles Rams
(previously: 12) |
0-2 | The Rams were dismantled by the Cardinals in week two. Cooper Kupp also injured his ankle and will be out for an extended period to add insult to injury. The injuries are mounting and will not get any easier against the 49ers this week. |
23 | Chicago Bears
(previously: 18) |
1-1 | Caleb Williams has had a tough start to begin the season. Keenan Allen did not play on Sunday night, and Williams did not have a safety net to target. They play the Colts at home this week. |
24 | Jacksonville Jaguars
(previously: 22) |
0-2 | Trevor Lawrence may be on the hot seat. He only has 382 yards with one touchdown to start the season. He has not turned the ball over, but he is not delivering points. It will likely get worse before it gets better as they go on the road for two games against the Bills and Texans. |
25 | Indianapolis Colts
(previously: 19) |
0-2 | The Colts looked awful on Sunday in their loss to the Malik Willis-led Packers. The defense cannot stop the run, and it is becoming the game plan for opponents. DeForest Buckner will miss some time, which will not help the cause. |
26 | Las Vegas Raiders
(previously: 30) |
1-1 | The Raiders somehow beat the Ravens, but I need to see more from them before I move them up. Gardner Minshew completed 30/38 passes and found Davante Adams nine times for 110 yards and a TD. The running game was nonexistent, but they got the job done. |
27 | New England Patriots
(previously: 25) |
1-1 | The Patriots nearly started 2-0 after being one of the lowest rated teams to start the season. The defense looks amazing and is playing hard for Jerod Mayo. The offense needs to help them out, but it is still a solid start to the season. |
28 | Washington Commanders
(previously: 28) |
1-1 | The Commanders managed to beat the Giants, but it was not pretty. They were down 18-15 in the fourth quarter but kicked two late field goals, including a game-winning field goal. Jayden Daniels still does not have a passing TD, but the rushing attack is picking up the slack. |
29 | Tennessee Titans
(previously: 27) |
0-2 | Will Levis now owns two of the most bone-headed plays of the season. They were inside the 10, and Levis refused to take a sack and tried to pitch it to the running back, but the Jets recovered the fumble. The coaching staff will not deal with those turnovers much longer. |
30 | Denver Broncos
(previously: 29) |
0-2 | Bo Nix did not play great against the Steelers, but it was a tough matchup. He was harassed all game by T.J. Watt and company. They have a tough road stretch against the Buccaneers and Jets upcoming. |
31 | New York Giants
(previously: 31) |
0-2 | The Giants are miserably bad. The Giants’ kicker got hurt, and they did not have plans for a backup. Malik Nabers had a great day, though, with 10 catches for 127 yards and a TD. |
32 | Carolina Panthers
(previously: 32) |
0-2 | Bryce Young is getting benched this week in favor of Andy Dalton. It should not matter much because the defense cannot stop anyone, but it is a slight upgrade to the offense. |
