Thoughts

1 Philadelphia Eagles

(previously: 2)

12-2 The Eagles have finally earned the top spot in the rankings with a dominant win over the Steelers. It was the passing attack that got the job done this week and Saquon Barkley got a lighter workload. A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts squashed any rumors of a rocky relationship.
2 Buffalo Bills

(previously: 4)

11-3 Josh Allen did it with his legs again and the Bills rolled by the Lions. It was an impressive victory, but the defense allowed 40+ points for the second week in a row, which is a little bit concerning.
3 Kansas City Chiefs

(previously: 3)

13-1 The Chiefs have the best record in the league, but they have had to battle all season. They finally won a game easily against the Browns, but Patrick Mahomes is week-to-week with an ankle injury. It could jeopardize their chance of getting the top seed, but I would be scared of this team in the playoffs.
4 Detroit Lions

(previously: 1)

12-2 The injury bug hit the Lions at the worst time. They were cruising into the playoffs, but now need guys to step up. They lost a defensive tackle, two cornerbacks, and running back David Montgomery for the season.
5 Minnesota Vikings

(previously: 5)

12-2 The Vikings’ defense set the tone on Monday night by holding the Bears scoreless in the first half. They nearly lost to this team earlier, but put the nail in the coffin with this victory.
6 Green Bay Packers

(previously: 7)

10-4 The Packers are one of the most dangerous teams in the league because of their offense. Josh Jacobs is the perfect back for this offense. He keeps the chains moving while Jordan Love finds his talented receivers down the field.
7 Pittsburgh Steelers

(previously: 6)

10-4 George Pickens is the most important weapon to this offense and it showed against the Eagles. He missed the game and the offense looked lost. T.J. Watt suffered an ankle injury too with a treacherous schedule to end the season.
8 Baltimore Ravens

(previously: 8)

9-5 Baltimore is the most penalized team in the league (8.7 penalties per game). It did not matter against the Giants, but it could be a problem in the playoffs. They could win the Super Bowl if they clean things up.
9 Denver Broncos

(previously: 10)

9-5 Bo Nix threw three interceptions, but the Broncos still managed to overcome a 13-7 deficit at halftime. They outscored the Colts 24-0 in the second half on the back of their defense.
10 Washington Commanders

(previously: 13)

9-5 It was not pretty, but they got the job done against the Saints. They were up 17-0 midway through the third quarter, but won 20-19. You cannot take your foot off the gas against any team in the league.
11 Houston Texans

(previously: 12)

9-5 The Texans forced four turnovers, which was the difference. The offense only produced 181 total yards. This offense can be great on paper, but they have not shown it this season.
12 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

(previously: 14)

8-6 The Buccaneers did not care about the Chargers’ tough defense scoring 40 points. Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans connected on two touchdowns, which is exactly what this team needs to make a run.
13 Los Angeles Chargers

(previously: 9)

8-6 Gus Edwards only managed 23 yards on eight attempts. The Chargers will never win with those performances. They desperately need J.K. Dobbins to return for the playoffs, if they make it.
14 Los Angeles Rams

(previously: 15)

8-6 The Rams have a 54% chance to make the playoffs, and that number jumps to 63% with a win against the Jets this week. It would not be surprising to see this team make a run in the playoffs.
15 Arizona Cardinals

(previously: 16)

7-7 The Cardinals are hanging on by a thread. They have a 13% chance to make the postseason and 18% chance if they win this week. It is not out of reach, but the door is closing.
16 Seattle Seahawks

(previously: 11)

8-6 Geno Smith received positive news about his knee injury, and has a chance to play this week against the Vikings. They desperately need him with a 36% chance to make the playoffs and 52% chance if they win this week.
17 Atlanta Falcons

(previously: 20)

7-7 The Falcons did what they needed on Monday night, but it was not pretty. They have a 35% chance to make the playoffs and 44% chance if they win.
18 Miami Dolphins

(previously: 17)

6-8 The Dolphins are on the outside looking in with a 7% chance to make the playoffs. All they can do is win games, and have an easier schedule against the 49ers, Browns and Jets.
19 Cincinnati Bengals

(previously: 21)

6-8 The Bengals are still alive with a 5% chance to make the playoffs. A lot of things need to go right, but it is not impossible.
20 San Francisco 49ers

(previously: 19)

6-8 It is all but over for the reigning NFC Champions. They have less than a 1% chance of making the playoffs.
21 Indianapolis Colts

(previously: 18)

6-8 Jonathan Taylor dropped the ball before crossing the goal line last week. When will players learn that you need the football to score?
22 Dallas Cowboys

(previously: 25)

6-8 The Cowboys are starting to play some respectable football, but it does not matter. They have less than 1% chance to make the playoffs.
23 New Orleans Saints

(previously: 23)

5-9 Derek Carr means so much to this offense. They looked awful with Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler.
24 Chicago Bears

(previously: 22)

4-10 The Bears did not have a comeback in store for the Vikings this team. It is not surprising because they have been awful since that first game.
25 Cleveland Browns

(previously: 25)

3-11 Jameis Winston scores more points, but they come with turnovers. Deshaun Watson takes care of the ball but does not score. They may need to look elsewhere.
26 New York Jets

(previously: 28)

4-10 Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams rolled back the clock last week, but most teams have beat the Jaguars’ secondary. The season is over, but it showed fans what they could have been capable of.
27 Carolina Panthers

(previously: 26)

3-11 Bryce Young is making steady progress. He needs these reps now to work on chemistry with his young receivers.
28 New England Patriots

(previously: 27)

3-11 Losing is not the end of the world for this young team. They are in a rebuild and have a lot of projected cap space next season.
29 Tennessee Titans

(previously: 29)

3-11 Who knows who will be at quarterback for the Titans next season? Will Levis may be out and Mason Rudolph is not the answer.
30 Jacksonville Jaguars

(previously: 30)

3-11 The Jaguars cannot compete with their awful secondary. Mac Jones and the offense can only do so much.
31 Las Vegas Raiders

(previously: 31)

2-12 This team is injured and is not good enough to overcome it. Better luck next year, Raiders fans!
32 New York Giants

(previously: 32)

2-12 The Giants did not put up a fight against the Ravens. Tim Boyle will likely lead the charge and could lead them to a number one overall selection.
