NFL Week 15 Power Rankings
Rank |
Team |
Record |
Thoughts |
1 | Detroit Lions
(previously: 1) |
12-1 | The Lions went for it on fourth down five times and converted four. They also won on a game-winning field goal to beat the Packers. They are the class of the NFC until proven otherwise. |
2 | Philadelphia Eagles
(previously: 3) |
11-2 | I am not going to hold that performance against the Panthers against them. Carolina has been playing better recently, and the Eagles got their ninth consecutive victory, which is impressive. They also clinched a playoff berth but are playing for seeding. |
3 | Kansas City Chiefs
(previously: 4) |
12-1 | The Chiefs clinched the AFC West with their win against the Chargers on Sunday night. You could certainly argue that they are the second-best team right now, but when it comes down to a kick every week, it is going to go the opposite way eventually. It nearly did, if not for a doink. |
4 | Buffalo Bills
(previously: 2) |
10-3 | The defense looked atrocious against the Rams. They could not contain Puka Nacua, which few teams can. Josh Allen had six total touchdowns, but they still came up short, 44-42. The defense has to clean things up, or they will be exposed in the playoffs. |
5 | Minnesota Vikings
(previously: 5) |
11-2 | The Vikings keep getting overlooked, but they have only two losses and are a dangerous team. After they play the Bears this week, they will finish the season against the Seahawks, Packers, and Lions, so we will see how good they truly are. |
6 | Pittsburgh Steelers
(previously: 6) |
10-3 | Bragging rights in Pennsylvania are on the line this week as they travel to Philadelphia. The Steelers then travel to Baltimore before playing the Chiefs at home. They can still lose this division with that schedule remaining. |
7 | Green Bay Packers
(previously: 7) |
9-4 | The Packers may be a wild card team, but they are a serious contender in the NFC. Their losses are to the Eagles, Vikings, and Lions twice, and three of those games came down to the wire. |
8 | Baltimore Ravens
(previously: 8) |
8-5 | The bye week could not have come at a better time for the Ravens. They play the Giants this week, but the most important game is the following week at home versus the Steelers. They could steal this division if Pittsburgh loses multiple games down the stretch. |
9 | Los Angeles Chargers
(previously: 9) |
8-5 | The Chargers nearly stole the game on the road in Kansas City. Their defense is legit, but they need J.K. Dobbins back to make a run in the playoffs. Justin Herbert can only do so much with those receivers and no ground attack. |
10 | Denver Broncos
(previously: 10) |
8-5 | The extra week to prepare for the Colts should pay dividends. They are a playoff team with a win this week, with the Colts and Dolphins trailing them by two games. Sean Payton will have this team prepared this week. |
11 | Seattle Seahawks
(previously: 14) |
8-5 | The Seahawks took control of the division with a win against the Cardinals. The Rams are still a threat, but the Seahawks can control their destiny if they keep winning. They finish the season with home games against the Packers and Vikings and away games against the Bears and Rams. |
12 | Houston Texans
(previously: 12) |
8-5 | The Texans have not looked like a playoff team this season, but they had a chance to clean things up over the bye. They still control the division but need to clean things up down the stretch if they want to make a run in the playoffs. |
13 | Washington Commanders
(previously: 11) |
8-5 | Jayden Daniels has not looked full strength, but the bye week should have helped him get healthy. They have a favorable schedule to secure a wild card spot. |
14 | Tampa Bay Buccaneers
(previously: 13) |
7-6 | The Buccaneers are getting healthier and are in control of the NFC South. They play the Chargers this week but finish with the Cowboys, Panthers, and Saints. They are not a team I would want to play in the playoffs. |
15 | Los Angeles Rams
(previously: 16) |
7-6 | Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp change this team when they are on the field. They scored 44 points against the Bills and are a dangerous team. They still have a chance to win the division, and it may come down to the final game against the Seahawks. |
16 | Arizona Cardinals
(previously: 15) |
6-7 | The Cardinals looked like a playoff team before their three consecutive losses (two to the Seahawks). They should get right against the Patriots and Panthers in the next two weeks but must beat the Rams and 49ers to end the season. |
17 | Miami Dolphins
(previously: 18) |
6-7 | The Dolphins are on the outside looking in of the playoff picture but are so much better with Tua Tagovailoa under center. Injuries killed their season, but they still have a small chance. |
18 | Indianapolis Colts
(previously: 17) |
6-7 | The Colts are basically playing a playoff game this week. They must win this week against the Broncos to keep their playoff hopes alive. |
19 | San Francisco 49ers
(previously: 21) |
6-7 | The NFC West is wide open, and the 49ers still have a chance even though they are last in the division. They must win this week against the Rams at home. Injuries have plagued this team all season and are still a problem, with Isaac Guerendo hurting his foot last week. |
20 | Atlanta Falcons
(previously: 19) |
6-7 | Kirk Cousins leads the league in interceptions and has been playing awful down the stretch. They lost control of the division but still hold the tie-breaker over the Buccaneers since they beat them twice. The door is closing, but they need to turn it around. |
21 | Cincinnati Bengals
(previously: 20) |
5-8 | The Bengals kept their playoff hopes alive with a win against the Cowboys. It is less than a 5% chance, but they are a dangerous team with their elite offense. |
22 | Chicago Bears
(previously: 22) |
4-9 | They fired Matt Eberflus, but nothing changed. The 49ers beat them badly, and it will not get any easier down the stretch. They need to prioritize Caleb Williams’ health, but he also needs these reps against playoff teams down the stretch. |
23 | New Orleans Saints
(previously: 24) |
5-8 | The Saints are battling for interim head coach Darren Rizzi, but Derek Carr is likely out for a couple of weeks with a hand injury. It was the final blow to a disappointing season for the Saints. |
24 | Cleveland Browns
(previously: 25) |
3-10 | You have to take the good and the bad with Jameis Winston, but he has brought some life to this team. Their defense is the real problem, allowing 25.8 points per game. |
25 | Dallas Cowboys
(previously: 23) |
5-8 | The Cowboys blocked a punt but still lost because they touched the ball and let the Bengals recover. The coaching staff could be in jeopardy moving forward. |
26 | Carolina Panthers
(previously: 26) |
3-10 | The Panthers and Bryce Young are playing at a much higher level than at the beginning of the season. They gave the Eagles a run for their money in Philadelphia. Even though they lost, it has to give this team confidence heading into next season. |
27 | New England Patriots
(previously: 28) |
3-10 | Drake Maye looks solid, but there are a lot of positions to fill in the offseason. They should get a high draft pick and are projected to have the most cap space heading into next season. |
28 | New York Jets
(previously: 27) |
3-10 | This organization is struggling to find its identity heading into next season. No one knows if Aaron Rodgers will be there next season, and it may not matter, given his performance this season. |
29 | Tennessee Titans
(previously: 29) |
3-10 | The Titans looked awful against the Jaguars. Will Levis had an incredible matchup and still did not perform. Head coach Brian Callahan may be on the chopping block. |
30 | Jacksonville Jaguars
(previously: 31) |
3-10 | The win against the Titans may have hurt them more than it helped them. Their draft pick is getting worse when they desperately need someone to protect Trevor Lawrence. |
31 | Las Vegas Raiders
(previously: 30) |
2-11 | Quarterback is the biggest question mark for this team, and Shadeur Sanders may be the answer. Sanders wants to be a Raider, and they would be crazy to not take a chance on him. |
32 | New York Giants
(previously: 32) |
2-11 | The Giants must draft a solid quarterback, or their fans will riot. It is not easy being a Giants fan. |
