NFL Week 14 Power Rankings

Thoughts |
1 | Detroit Lions
(previously: 1) |
11-1 | Matt Eberflus and the Bears had a chance to beat the Lions on Thanksgiving, but horrible clock management cost them the game and his job. The Lions have been the best team in football to this point in the season but will be tested with games against the Packers and Bills upcoming. |
2 | Buffalo Bills
(previously: 2) |
10-2 | The Bills clinched the AFC East with their victory over the 49ers on Sunday night. Josh Allen threw a pass to Amari Cooper, who lateraled to Allen for the touchdown. It was a unique play, to say the least, and helped solidify Allen’s MVP case. |
3 | Philadelphia Eagles
(previously: 3) |
10-2 | The Eagles’ defense is a problem for every team. Rookies Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell have been major contributors in the secondary, with Jalen Carter and Zack Baun making plays up front. |
4 | Kansas City Chiefs
(previously: 4) |
11-1 | The Chiefs have clinched a playoff berth, but nothing has been pretty this season. They had another close game against the Raiders but held them scoreless for the final 14 minutes to secure the victory. |
5 | Minnesota Vikings
(previously: 6) |
10-2 | Sam Darnold stepped up and found Aaron Jones in the flat to score the go-ahead touchdown against the Cardinals with a minute left. This team is not the best on paper, but they continue to win games. |
6 | Pittsburgh Steelers
(previously: 8) |
9-3 | Russell Wilson threw for 400 yards and three touchdowns against the Bengals. The defense allowed 38 points, which is troubling, but the Bengals are legit offensively. The Steelers will look to extend their division lead and get revenge on the Browns this week. |
7 | Green Bay Packers
(previously: 7) |
9-3 | The biggest test of the season comes this week as the Packers travel to Detroit. The Packers gave them a fight in their first meeting but came up short. Jordan Love needs to have a great game to beat the Lions. |
8 | Baltimore Ravens
(previously: 5) |
8-5 | The Ravens get a much-needed rest this week after losing to the Eagles. Justin Tucker has let this team down all season, but there is still time to make up for it. Lamar Jackson should also use his legs more. He is one of the best athletes in the league but needs to be more decisive in tucking the ball. |
9 | Los Angeles Chargers
(previously: 9) |
8-4 | The Chargers’ defense came up huge again with a pick-six against the Falcons. They had five turnovers but only won the game 17-13. The offense has to play better if they want to beat the top-tier teams. |
10 | Denver Broncos
(previously: 10) |
8-5 | Bo Nix made some mistakes on Monday night, but he also made a few big plays. He is not afraid to take a shot, which is impressive for a young quarterback. They are on the verge of making the playoffs with a 76% chance. |
11 | Washington Commanders
(previously: 11) |
8-5 | The Commanders hold a wild card spot and a 71% chance of making the playoffs. They have a bye this week and will play the Saints upon returning. The division may be out of reach, but the playoffs are in their future. |
12 | Houston Texans
(previously: 12) |
8-5 | The bye week is a blessing for Houston. This offense needs to figure things out before the playoffs. They have a 97% chance to make it but will not make it far with a struggling offense. |
13 | Tampa Bay Buccaneers
(previously: 15) |
6-6 | Bucky Irving has been amazing over the second half of the season. He had 205 total yards and a rushing touchdown against the Panthers and is leading all rookie running backs in every major stat category. |
14 | Seattle Seahawks
(previously: 13) |
7-5 | The Seahawks keep finding ways to win close games and barely hold the top spot in the NFC West. Despite leading the division, they only have a 45% chance to make the playoffs. They must win this week at Arizona to improve those odds. |
15 | Arizona Cardinals
(previously: 14) |
6-6 | The Cardinals outplayed the Vikings for most of the game but came up short. They could have been tied with the Seahawks before hosting them this week. They must win this week to allow themselves to make the playoffs. |
16 | Los Angeles Rams
(previously: 18) |
6-6 | The Rams have a 20% chance to make the playoffs but host the Bills this week. A loss does not eliminate them from contention, but it would not help. I expect Matthew Stafford to put up a fight this week against the juggernaut Bills. |
17 | Indianapolis Colts
(previously: 20) |
6-7 | Anthony Richardson found Alec Pierce with 12 seconds left to go down one to the Patriots. Richardson finished off the game with a two-point conversion, which was a bold play call. They have a 27% chance to make the playoffs with a game at Denver this week. |
18 | Miami Dolphins
(previously: 16) |
5-7 | The Dolphins’ season is likely over, with only a 10% chance to make the playoffs. It has been disappointing this season, and there are rumors that the locker room starting to fall apart. This offseason should be interesting. |
19 | Atlanta Falcons
(previously: 17) |
6-6 | The Falcons have stumbled into the final quarter of the season. They still have a 58% chance to make the playoffs, but the optics look bad. Things get easier to end the season, but they play at Minnesota this week, which will be a test. |
20 | Cincinnati Bengals
(previously: 21) |
4-8 | Joe Burrow is having a spectacular season, but it is not translating into wins. The defense allowed 44 points, and they still nearly won the game. He and Ja’Marr Chase can only do so much. |
21 | San Francisco 49ers
(previously: 19) |
5-7 | The 49ers’ season of disappointment continues. Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason were placed on injured reserve this week. The season has not gone to plan, and are on the outside looking in with only an 8% chance of making the playoffs. |
22 | Chicago Bears
(previously: 22) |
4-8 | Matt Eberflus got axed after his atrocious clock management on Thanksgiving. The world pretty much knew it would happen as they watched live, and the Bears fired him the following day. The job should be highly coveted with Caleb Williams under center. |
23 | Dallas Cowboys
(previously: 24) |
5-7 | Rico Dowdle had a breakout game on Thanksgiving. He ran for 112 yards and a touchdown. The defense also came to life against the Drew Lock-led Giants. The Cowboys’ fans finally had a reason to cheer. |
24 | New Orleans Saints
(previously: 23) |
4-8 | The Saints gave the Rams a close game but could not deliver down the stretch. Darren Rizzi is coaching for a possible job next season but needs to rack up a few more wins to be convincing. |
25 | Cleveland Browns
(previously: 25) |
3-9 | Jameis Winston threw for 497 yards and four touchdowns but also threw two touchdowns to the other team. Jerry Jeudy got his revenge against his former team to the tune of 235 yards and a touchdown. |
26 | Carolina Panthers
(previously: 29) |
3-9 | Bryce Young is improving with each week. He has not thrown an interception in three games and is leading scoring drives. The offense needs more weapons to succeed, but they seem inspired by Young’s recent play. |
27 | New York Jets
(previously: 28) |
3-9 | The Jets are awful, and Aaron Rodgers is a big reason. He has not thrown for 200 yards in three games against easier secondaries. This team needs a big off-season to be contenders. |
28 | New England Patriots
(previously: 27) |
3-10 | Drake Maye looks like the guy for the Patriots, but they need to trust him more. This season is lost, so let him make plays. If he makes a mistake, so be it. He needs to learn how to win games. |
29 | Tennessee Titans
(previously: 26) |
3-9 | Nick Westbrook-Ikhine continues to score touchdowns. He did not catch a single pass in his first four games this season, but the bye week changed something. He has one in every game but one since week six and caught two last week. He is tied for fourth in receiving touchdowns currently. |
30 | Las Vegas Raiders
(previously: 31) |
2-10 | Aidan O’Connell nearly led the Raiders to a surprise victory over the Chiefs. He is playing for his job next season and could win with performances like that. |
31 | Jacksonville Jaguars
(previously: 32) |
2-10 | Trevor Lawrence suffered a concussion after a dirty hit when sliding. He should not play anymore this season if the Jaguars are smart. |
32 | New York Giants
(previously: 30) |
2-10 | The Giants have a great shot at the first overall pick, but they need more than that. This team is not good. The offseason should be interesting. |
