NFL Week 13 Power Rankings
Rank |
Team |
Record |
Thoughts |
1 | Detroit Lions
(previously: 1) |
10-1 | The Lions proved again that they are the team to beat this season, and their defense is a big part of that. They allow 16.6 points per game, which is second-fewest in the league. David Montgomery (shoulder) and Amon-Ra St. Brown (knee) did get banged up, but it should not be long-term. |
2 | Buffalo Bills
(previously: 2) |
9-2 | The late bye week may have been a blessing for the Bills. They got a chance to recover and have the AFC East locked up, and they can still get the top seed. They play the 49ers on Sunday night and will look to extend their winning streak to seven games. |
3 | Philadelphia Eagles
(previously: 4) |
9-2 | Saquon Barkley has taken this team to another level. He is finishing runs and forcing teams to stack the box, which leaves A.J. Brown room to work. The defense should not be overlooked. They have allowed 14.7 points per game over their last three games, with 3.7 sacks per game over that span. |
4 | Kansas City Chiefs
(previously: 3) |
10-1 | The Chiefs struggled to get past the Panthers but found a way to win the game. Eight of their 10 wins have been by seven points or fewer. I would not want to play this team in the playoffs because they always find a way to win. |
5 | Baltimore Ravens
(previously: 7) |
8-4 | Derrick Henry is having an amazing season that is slightly overshadowed by Barkley’s. Henry leads the league in rushing TDs (13) with 110.4 rushing yards per game. Lamar Jackson has 30 total TDs and only three interceptions. They are a scary team to everyone but the Steelers. |
6 | Minnesota Vikings
(previously: 6) |
9-2 | The Vikings have won four in a row and three in a row on the road. Away games in the NFL are always tough, so they deserve more credit. They have a 98% chance to make the playoffs a comfortable place with multiple tough games left. |
7 | Green Bay Packers
(previously: 8) |
8-3 | The Packers took advantage of the 49ers’ turnovers and won 38-10. Josh Jacobs has been a massive piece of this offense. He is third in rushing yards and, more importantly, has relieved some pressure from Jordan Love. |
8 | Pittsburgh Steelers
(previously: 5) |
8-3 | The Browns took advantage of the weather and the Steelers’ short week. Several things went against the Steelers, but they needed to win that game. The defense did not show up, but they must be against the Bengals in Cincinnati. |
9 | Los Angeles Chargers
(previously: 9) |
7-4 | The defense missed Denzel Perryman on Monday night. They took a 10-point lead early but could not stop the run. J.K. Dobbins injured his knee, and the Chargers could not move the ball on the ground. The next two weeks will be tough, with two away games against the Falcons and Chiefs. |
10 | Denver Broncos
(previously: 12) |
7-5 | The Broncos have a 73% chance to make the playoffs and have a favorable schedule to end the season. Their defense allows 16.8 points per game and keeps the offense in games. Bo Nix is developing well and is giving Broncos’ fans hope for the future. |
11 | Washington Commanders
(previously: 10) |
7-5 | The loss to the Cowboys was brutal. A missed extra point cost them the game, but they needed an 86-yard TD from Jayden Daniels to Terry McLaurin to even be in that position. They now have a 59% chance to make the playoffs. |
12 | Houston Texans
(previously: 13) |
7-5 | The Texans still have a 94% chance to make the playoffs, but a loss to the Titans is not a good look. C.J. Stroud is having a rough season, with 14 TDs and nine interceptions. They forced three turnovers, one went for a touchdown but still lost the game. |
13 | Seattle Seahawks
(previously: 14) |
6-5 | The Seahawks have allowed 16.3 points per game over the past three games, and this is a big reason this team has the lead in the NFC West. They have a 46% chance to make the playoffs. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has ascended in the past three games, averaging 122.3 yards per game with three TDs. |
14 | Arizona Cardinals
(previously: 11) |
6-5 | The Cardinals’ offense looked awful after the bye week, but the Seahawks’ defense has been tough. The ground game was non-existent, which could be a problem. They still have a 51% chance to make the playoffs, with three divisional games remaining. |
15 | Tampa Bay Buccaneers
(previously: 18) |
5-6 | The Buccaneers took care of business against the Giants, and Mike Evans returned without setbacks. Things are trending up for the Bucs, who have a 54% chance to make the playoffs. |
16 | Miami Dolphins
(previously: 20) |
5-6 | The Dolphins are a much different team, with Tua Tagovailoa under center. Jonnu Smith has emerged as a playmaker in this offense, with Tyreek Hill having a down season. They only have a 14% chance to make the playoffs, but could ruin some seasons with the Packers, Texans, and 49ers left on the schedule. |
17 | Atlanta Falcons
(previously: 16) |
6-5 | The Falcons have a 70% chance to make the playoffs, but two losses heading into a bye week is not ideal. They should have figured some things out and recovered over the bye week. They play the Chargers this week and desperately need a win. |
18 | Los Angeles Rams
(previously: 17) |
5-6 | The NFC West is wide open, but the offensive line needs some work for the Rams. They allowed five sacks and 11 QB hits against the Eagles. They are playing with fire allowing 37-year-old Matthew Stafford to take that many hits. |
19 | San Francisco 49ers
(previously: 15) |
5-6 | The 49ers dropped another game to the Packers and are still in last place in the NFC West. Their playoff chances now sit at 15%, with a tough matchup at Buffalo this week. They have not looked like a playoff team this season, and Brock Purdy’s injury may be the nail in the coffin. |
20 | Indianapolis Colts
(previously: 19) |
5-7 | Anthony Richardson has looked much better after earning the starting job again, but they cannot compete against teams like the Lions or Bills. They still have a 21% chance to make the playoffs with an easy schedule to finish the season. |
21 | Cincinnati Bengals
(previously: 21) |
4-7 | The Bengals are the scariest 4-7 team in the league. The playoffs are likely out of the picture (13% chance), but have a chance if they run the table. They play the Steelers twice, with the final game of the season at Pittsburgh. |
22 | Chicago Bears
(previously: 22) |
4-7 | The Bears have lost five in a row, but Caleb Williams played well against the Vikings. The rest of the season should be focused on developing Williams into the future of this franchise. |
23 | New Orleans Saints
(previously: 23) |
4-7 | Darren Rizzi has won two in a row since becoming interim head coach and could earn himself a head coaching job with a solid end to the season. They need a miracle to make the playoffs but could have found their future head coach. |
24 | Dallas Cowboys
(previously: 26) |
4-7 | Cooper Rush looked solid in their win against the Commanders. He threw two TDs with 247 yards and scored points when they needed them. Two kick returns for touchdowns certainly help, but a win is a win. |
25 | Cleveland Browns
(previously: 27) |
3-8 | Jameis Winston put the team on his shoulders and carried them to a victory against the Steelers on Thursday night in the snow. Winston should have been starting from the first snap of the season. |
26 | Tennessee Titans
(previously: 29) |
3-8 | Will Levis has been sacked 20 times in the past three games. He is improving, but no quarterback can thrive with that much pressure. They beat the Texans, somehow, but should help the confidence of Levis. |
27 | New England Patriots
(previously: 24) |
3-9 | The Patriots looked awful against the Dolphins. They were down 31-0 entering the fourth quarter, and Drake Maye did nothing on offense. They need to bring in some receivers and linemen for Maye in the offseason. |
28 | New York Jets
(previously: 25) |
3-8 | The bye week was not a quiet one for the Jets. They let go of their general manager, Joe Douglas, and Aaron Rodgers is rumored to want out. The rest of the season should be interesting for the Jets. |
29 | Carolina Panthers
(previously: 28) |
3-8 | The Panthers nearly beat the Chiefs, which would have been the most impressive win of the last few seasons. Bryce Young played well with 263 yards and one TD. He is making progress in his second season. |
30 | New York Giants
(previously: 32) |
2-9 | Tommy DeVito was not the answer for the Giants, who only managed seven points against the Buccaneers. That score came in the fourth quarter in a 30-0 game. |
31 | Las Vegas Raiders
(previously: 30) |
2-9 | Gardner Minshew broke his collarbone and is out for the season. Aidan O’Connell is set to return from injured reserve this week, but the team may opt to start Desmond Ridder. It probably does not matter either way. |
32 | Jacksonville Jaguars
(previously: 31) |
2-9 | The bye week was quiet for the Jaguars. There was a rumor that Doug Pederson could be fired after losing to the Lions, but it has not happened yet. |
