Grizzlies vs. Suns Season Trends

The Suns have not been playing well in the first month of the new year. Yep, they scored a pair of victories against the Brooklyn Nets (117-112) and the Indiana Pacers (112-107), but Phoenix has posted just three wins in their last 10 outings. Based on their recent slump, it is no surprise that they are currently 10th in the conference playoff race.

Meanwhile, the Grizzlies are trending upward, to say the least. Sure, their recent outing saw them falling to the Los Angeles Lakers 122-121 on Friday night. However, before that loss, Memphis had posted victories in 11 consecutive outings.

Memphis does a bit of everything well. For instance, they have the fifth-best scoring average (117.6 points per contest) and the seventh-best offensive rating (115.2 per 100 possessions). Let us also remember that Memphis has the second-highest point differential as well (plus-5.6).

On the other end of the court, the Grizzlies are just as formidable. This squad has the seventh-best mark in points allowed (111.9 points per game) and they boast the league’s best defensive rating, allowing 109.6 points per 100 possessions. Furthermore, they are holding opponents to 44.4 percent shooting, which is tops in the association. Simply put, this team is clicking on all cylinders right now, which is why they have the second-best record in the conference (31-14) and the third-best record in the league.

Grizzlies vs. Suns Head-To-Head & Betting Trends

Memphis has dominated the head-to-head matchups between the two teams. They took two of three from the Suns in 2021-22. And they have also won two of the three games between these ball clubs this year. In those two victories, the Grizzlies won handily by 25 and 30 points, respectively. But one thing to keep an eye on is the fact that 11 of Memphis’ 14 losses occurred on the road.

The Grizzlies are 9.5-point favorites here and they have covered the spread 50 percent of the time this season, while the Suns are a bit better with a 52.1 percent mark.

Memphis boasts a 30-9 mark as the favorite and the Suns are just 5-14 as the underdog.

The Pick

Aside from their recent loss against the Lakers, Memphis is one of the hottest teams in the league right now. On top of that, though, Phoenix has several players that will be out of the lineup. The list includes Devon Booker, Chris Paul, and DeAndre Ayton, just to name a few.

Taking those factors into consideration, it would be wise to go with the Grizzlies in this one outright. But with Phoenix being plagued with the injury bug, look for them to cover the spread as well.

Wow, the Grizzlies are hot now! I hope they continue to play as well in future outings. It makes you wonder what’s going on with their road games, though. Hopefully they’ll be able to fix this problem before it’s too late!
