1

Philadelphia Phillies

(previously: 1)

63-36 Losing the first series after the break to the Pirates is tough, but it is not enough to move them out of the first spot. They still own the best team ERA (3.44) and third-best batting average (.259).
2 Baltimore Orioles

(previously: 3)

60-39 The Orioles took two out of three at the Rangers and now own a two-game lead in the AL East. They have three games against the Marlins and Padres this week, and they could extend that lead.
3 Los Angeles Dodgers

(previously: 5)

59-41 A clean sweep of the Red Sox is the perfect way to start after the break. Tyler Glasnow will get activated and start Wednesday’s game against the Giants, and Clayton Kershaw will be activated to start Thursday. That is massive to this staff that is riddled with injuries.
4 Cleveland Guardians

(previously: 2)

59-39 It has not been smooth sailing for the Guardians recently. They are 7-9 in July and have lost their last three series. They play Detroit and Philadelphia this week, and a couple of wins against the Phillies could get them on track.
5 New York Yankees

(previously: 4)

59-42 The Yankees have loads of problems right now, but they are not Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and Gerrit Cole. They need production from the bottom of their lineup, and more quality starts from everyone who is not named Cole.
6 Milwaukee Brewers

(previously: 6)

57-42 Two wins over the Twins after the break is great for morale. The Brewers play the Cubs and Marlins this week, so they should win at least four out of six.
7 Houston Astros

(previously: 12)

52-47 The Astros could be higher on this list. They are 42-28 since the beginning of May and are tied with the Mariners for the lead in the AL West. They also have owned the best batting average (.261) for over a month.
8 Atlanta Braves

(previously: 8)

54-44 Ozzie Albies is out for eight weeks with a fractured wrist, and Max Fried got placed on the 15-day injured list with nerve inflammation. The news on Fried seems more optimistic, but losing Albies is not ideal.
9 Kansas City Royals

(previously: 11)

55-45 The Royals are 7-3 in their last 10 games and are five games back of the Guardians in the AL Central. They do not have a very tough schedule coming up, either. They play the Diamondbacks, Cubs, and White Sox in the next week and a half.
10 Minnesota Twins

(previously: 7)

54-44 Losing two straight to the Brewers after the break is not ideal. They play the Phillies to start this week and could use a series win in a big way. The Twins are tied with the Royals, five games back of the Guardians in the AL Central.
11 Boston Red Sox

(previously: 9)

53-45 The Red Sox are on a West Coast road trip to resume the season. They got swept by the Dodgers and have the Rockies this week. They travel to Fenway for a three-game series against the Yankees to end the week.
12 Seattle Mariners

(previously: 10)

53-48 The lead in the AL West has evaporated, and the Mariners are tied with the Astros. They own the worst batting average (.218) and the third-best ERA (3.47).
13 St. Louis Cardinals

(previously: 13)

52-47 The Cardinals won the second wild card spot by 1.5 games but have a huge series with the Pirates this week. Paul Goldschmidt also got moved down in the order to the seven spot, which could spark a fire in him and his .225 average.
14 Arizona Diamondbacks

(previously: 16)

51-49 The defending NL champs are tied with the Mets and Padres for the last wild card spot. It would not be surprising to see them make aggressive moves at the deadline, especially to acquire more pitching.
15 San Diego Padres

(previously: 14)

52-50 Michael King nearly had a no-hitter against the Guardians on Sunday, and the Padres took the series. Joe Musgrove is throwing bullpen sessions, and Fernando Tatis Jr. has resumed baseball activities.
16 Pittsburgh Pirates

(previously: 18)

50-49 The Pirates are moving into playoff position as they sit a half-game out of the last wild card spot. They have a huge series against the Cardinals this week in Pittsburgh. Paul Skenes will also be on the bump for one of the games.
17 New York Mets

(previously: 15)

50-48 Things were looking up for the Mets before the break, but they lost two to the Marlins over the weekend. They are tied with the Padres and Diamondbacks for the final wild-card spot, but they play the Yankees and Braves this week.
18 Tampa Bay Rays

(previously: 17)

50-49 The Rays are not completely out of playoff contention yet, sitting 4.5 games back of the wild card. Randy Arozarena is 6-13 with two doubles and three homers since the All-Star break, which could ignite this team.
19 Texas Rangers

(previously: 19)

47-52 Taking one of three against the Orioles is no reason to hang your head. They face the White Sox in a four-game series and the Blue Jays this weekend to get momentum.
20 Detroit Tigers

(previously: 24)

49-51 Reese Olson was placed on the 15-day IL due to a right shoulder strain, which strains this pitching staff. They travel to Cleveland for a four-game series to start this week.
21 San Francisco Giants

(previously: 20)

48-52 The Giants remain one of the more inconsistent teams in the league. They started the break by losing two out of three to the Rockies and only scored nine total runs at Coors Field.
22 Chicago Cubs

(previously: 22)

48-53 This area of the rankings is the land of inconsistency. The Cubs scored four runs in three games after the break against a weak Diamondbacks pitching staff. They face the Brewers and Royals this week.
23 Washington Nationals

(previously: 23)

47-53 The Nationals swept the Reds and are four games out of the playoffs. It may be a long shot but do not count them out yet.
24 Cincinnati Reds

(previously: 21)

47-53 The Reds started the break by getting swept by the Nationals. That is not going to cut it.
25 Toronto Blue Jays

(previously: 25)

45-54 It remains unclear what the Blue Jays will do as the trade deadline looms. Bo Bichette and Vlad Guerrero Jr. are free agents after the 2025 season and seem like the best candidates to get moved to a contender.
26 Los Angeles Angels

(previously: 26)

42-57 Mike Trout is facing live pitching, so his return may be sooner rather than later.
27 Oakland Athletics

(previously: 27)

39-62 The Athletics scored 26 runs in three games after the break, albeit against the Angels. They now rank fourth with 127 home runs, which is positive for fans.
28 Colorado Rockies

(previously: 28)

36-64 Kris Bryant has hit two home runs during his rehab stint in triple-A and should be back with the Rockies soon.
29 Miami Marlins

(previously: 29)

35-64 Tanner Scott and Jazz Chisolm Jr. are the best candidates to get moved before July 30. Who will they be playing for next month?
30 Chicago White Sox

(previously: 30)

27-74 Garrett Crochet and Luis Robert Jr. could be on the move before the deadline, but who knows with this organization? They are now 10-40 on the road this season if you are looking for something to bet.
