Matchweek 37 Premier League Picks: Newcastle United vs Leicester City
MATCHWEEK 37 PREMIER LEAGUE PICKS: NEWCASTLE UNITED VS. LECEISTER CITY – The Premier League matchweek 37 closes out on Monday, as Leicester City travels to Newcastle United. For extremely different reasons, both teams will have a desperate need to pick up points in this one. Tune in for an exciting Premier League matchup as Newcastle try to secure a top 4 finish and Leicester City fight for Premier League survival.
NEWCASTLE UNITED (3rd)
Newcastle United will look to move one step closer to booking their place in the Champions League. They have had an incredible season and I expect them to adopt an attack-minded approach in this game against Leicester City. Leicester City have been conceding goals like it’s their job and Newcastle United have netted 28 goals in their previous 10 Premier League matches.
In their last match Newcastle defeated a tough opponent in Brighton, finding themselves walking away from that game as 4-1 victors. They were able to win this game 4-1 and put 22 attempts at goal with only 34% possession. Over Newcastle’s past 6 games, they have seen a total of 27 goals go into the back of the net by both sides (4.5 average goals per game). Considering Newcastle have already beaten Leicester twice this season without allowing a goal, I don’t think this trend will continue.
LEICESTER CITY (19th)
Leicester City have lost back-to-back Premier League games to Fulham (3-5) and to Liverpool (0-3) and are on the brink of being relegated from the Premier League. Given their shaky defense I am expecting them to have a tough day against Newcastle. Especially AT St. James’ Park. When on the road, Leicester have walked away from the pitch winless 7 consecutive times.
In their last match Leicester were defeated at home by Liverpool 3-0 and only managed 33% possession with 4 shots at goal. Leicester’s defence has been extremely poor this season and they have conceeded a goal in 21 straight Premier League matches. With Newcastle currently scoring at will, Leicester will unlikely have very much confidence coming into this one.

PROP BETS
| Newcastle to Win to Nil (+130) |
Newcastle has already beaten Leicester City on 2 different occasions this season and they are big favorites to win this fixture again. Newcastle have only lost 2 games at St. James Park this season (11W-5D-2L), while Leicester have only won 1 game in their previous 14 Premier League matches.
Leicester’s injury list remains lengthy and I dont see them causing any problems to Newcastle in this upcoming matchup. They haven’t kept many clean sheets as of late, but Newcastle rank 3rd in the Premier League this season for the most clean sheets with 13 total and rank 2nd in the league defensively at home with only 14 goals conceeded.
| Callum Wilson to Score Anytime (-150) |
Not much to say here. Callum Wilson is Newcastle’s leading scorer and ranks 5th in the Premier League this season. He has scored in 7 of his last 10 matches in which he has made an appearance, totalling 11 goals during that span. He is on fire at the moment and betting on him to get a goal is never a bad idea.

THE WORD
Newcastle’s home form has been incredible this season, while Leicester City’s away form has been extremely poor which bodes well for Newcastle. Despite Newcastle dropping points in recent weeks, they were able to step up and comfortably beat a much tougher opponent in Brighton.
Leicester City are in danger of being relegated from the Premier League. They are currently in 19th in the Premier League standings and find themselves 2 points behind Everton. With only 2 games left in the season, they will be desperate for a win here. However, time is running out for Leicester City and this looks like too challenging of a fixture for them to return to winning ways.
