JOHNNY’S QUICK PICKS April 05, 2024
LAWRENCE, Kansas —
So I’m in this little town of Lawrence, Kan. where the WVU Mountaineers take on the Kansas Jayhawks for a three-game baseball series. This ballpark is like a cement truck masquerading as a college baseball stadium. #Dump
We got back on track with two MLB winners on Weds. 🤑💰Let’s keep it rolling. I’ve got a hockey lock too! I’m loving me some Oilers! Bring back Bud’s Boots!

MLB BABY!
Houston (-110) at Rangers
Look, Houston should have swept the Jays and came within one pitch of throwing three shutouts. The starting pitching has been, but their bullpen has been a disaster seven games in. Alvarez is finally hitting and Hunter Brown looked razor sharp against New York. The Astros are the best road team in the majors. Pay back weekend!
Pick: Houston (-110)
Boston (EVEN) at Angels
Angels starter Griffin Canning got pummeled in his first start. Worse: his velocity was down big time. Not good.
Get this: Canning ended up with just 2 K’s in five innings. Not typical for him. Shows a problem.
Boston goes with starter Kutter Crawford, who pitched six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and only one walk allowed. He did this against a really solid Seattle team on the road.
Pick: Boston (Even)

Phils (-175) at Nats
Aaron Nola got crushed at home in his first start by Atlanta, giving up a five-spot in the first. I’m always looking for bounce-back games from proven, consistent veteran starters. This one fits. The Nats are a last place dumpster fire.
Pick: Phillies (-175)
NHL
Colorado at Edmonton (-130)
Colorado comes into this one with the fewest road wins this season among the league’s top 12 teams. The Avalanche are notorious for their road woes.
Edmonton comes into this game with the second-fewest home losses during regulation time in the league this year. The Oilers have won four straight at home and are 8-1 in their last nine home ice contests.
