JOHNNY’S QUICK PICKS April 03, 2024

PITTSBURGH—

So yesterday was a clown show on wheels. Houston has a 1-0 lead with two outs and no runners on in the top of the ninth with the best closer in baseball on the mound. Can’t lose, right? A 3-2 walk and a two run homer on the next pitch and they lose 2-1. Those losses are tough to digest.

Whatever, I’m over it. It’s baseball – grind on.

Read below for Johnny’s Quick Picks for April 03 2024

MLB BABY!

Boston (-170) at Oakland

Oakland lost 112 games last year. What changed?

The A’s go with starter Ross Stripling. The veteran right-hander got bombed in spring training posting an ERA above 8.00 and got shellacked in the season opener. Again: what changed?

Boston counters with Nick Pivetta. He’s very undervalued. His first start was solid. Pivetta fanned 10 with only 1 walk while allowing one earned run in 6 strong at Seattle.

Pick: Boston (-170)

Tigers (+120) at Mets

Tigers are 4-0. Mets are 0-4. Ride the trends. Casey Mize going for the Tigers is a mystery. The key here is I’m fading the Mets until they win a game.

Pick: Detroit (+120)

Royals at O’s (-170)

Corbin Burnes is unbeatable at home and the Royals won their one game at Camden Yards.

Pick: O’s (-170)
