College Football Bowl Games: December 26 2023

Bowling Green (+3) Vs. Minnesota

Both of these teams are not bowl worthy, but I’ll take the points. Minnesota has been a real disappoint this season, going 3-6 in the Big 10 and finishing last in the west. They should have been 1-8. Plus their QB hit the transfer portal. Bowling Green is the more inspired team here. Why not take the juice?

Pick: Bowling Green (+3)

 Rice (+3.5) Vs. Texas State

This is the best game on today’s bowl card. Both teams have had exciting seasons and neither team is losing many starters to the portal. This is old fashioned good defense (Owls) vs. great offense (Bobcats). Both teams are in the same conference (American) so this is like a regular season conference game.

North Texas at 5-7 backed into the bowl series and they do not merit -3.5. Rice is solid, disciplined and smartly coached.

 Pick: Rice (+3.5)

 UNLV at Kansas (-11)

 UNLV’s defense struggled late in the season, getting blown out in their last two games and giving up huge chunk plays. This is mis-match of talent at the skill positions. UNLV has coughed up 238 yards on average in the air and allowed an average of five yards per rush over their last three games.

How can they stop the Jayhawks? Answer: they won’t. Blow out. Kansas is the real deal.

 Pick: Kansas (-11)
