John Fredericks: MLB Picks for Saturday, July 22
JOHN FREDERICKS: MLB PICKS FOR SATURDAY, JULY 22 – I’m hot as a tamale in Tucson! Another 4-1 last night got us plus +$300. Houston scored a late run to eke out a 2-run win against a .1.5 run line. Thanks Kyle Tucker for blasting three home runs! On the season we are very nice plus +$1,325 with a blistering record of 222-175-1. That’s 47 games over .500. HOT!
Enough about me. This is about you (getting MLB winners).

Astros (-190) at Oakland
Houston scores about 15 runs a game for Christian Javier, who has been downright awful the last two months. The Astros just keep beating the A’s: nine in a row overall and 12 straight in Oakland. Ride the trend, lay the price.
Pick: Astros (-190)
Toronto (-130) over M’s
As much as I’m disappointed in Toronto’s offense In July, their ace Kevin Gausman has been electric. In his last start against this Seattle bunch, he shut them out over seven innings with one hit and 13 punchouts.
Going for the Mariners is their young gun Logan Gilbert, who has never fared well against the Jays. Toronto hits .292 lifetime against him. Plus, Gilbert is not winning at home (go figure). He’s 2-4 with a 4.21 ERA. Now his nemesis comes to town, desperate for a win.
Pick: Blue Jays (-130)
Pirates at Angels (-190)
I can feel an Angels surge coming. Winner of four straight, they have moved two games above .500 at 50-48 and four games out of the wild card. While their bullpen is atrocious, they are playing the slumping Pirates who have lost eight of 10 and are pitiful since starting 20-8 in April. They have gone 22-47 since.
The Angels need a sweep here to stay afloat until Trout gets back.
Well that sucked!
