John Fredericks: MLB Best Bets for Tuesday, April 18th

JOHN FREDERICKS: MLB BEST BETS FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 18th – Yesterday we went 1-1 and minus $30. It was bombs away in Denver but I had the wrong team! Pirates went bat-crazy.

Godzilla MLB Record 2023

19-11

+$487 for the Season

*Based on all wagers at $100 per game at money or run line odds as specified in Draft Kings. Note: If money line is -150 we are laying $150 to win $100, etc.  If we take +130 and we win, we win $130 for our $100.

April 18, 2023

Toronto at Houston (-110), 8:10 EST

Houston busted out last night and this is their chance to get back to .500. Chris Bassit is always tough, but he’s given up 13 earned runs in three starts. The Astros have dominated the AL East of late, going 13-3 in their last 16 games. Jose Urquidy throws strikes and goes his typical six innings. He’s a machine: not flashy but gets the job done.

Pick: Houston (-110)

Phillies at White Sox (+105) Game 1 of DH, 4:10 EST

Chicago is 6-10 on the season. But they lead the league 1-0 is stadium fan brawls.

Chicago has left runners on base in stunning fashion all season. They reverse that trend today.

Lance Lynn vs Zach Wheeler, we could not ask for a better pitching matchup.

Chicago has something to prove, as does Philadelphia. They are not a 6-10 team.

Lance Lynn is one of the most competitive pitchers in baseball. Energy and tempo are what make great pitchers. Lynn has not had the start to 2023 that he was expecting.

Today is Lynn’s day.

Chicago is due for a breakout day offensively. Look for Lynn to shut down this beat up Philadelphia offense and the Chi-Sox finally get hits with runners on base.

Pick: White Sox Game 1 (+105) of DH

Phillies at White Sox (-125) Game 2 of DH, 7:10 EST

Lucas Giolito takes the hill today for Chicago in game two.

Lucas looked great his last outing with just one bad inning. In game two of the double header, I think Lucas shuts down Philadelphia and Chicago takes both games at home.

There is something really wrong in Philadelphia.

It’s sweep day on the south side.

Pick: White Sox Game 2 (-125) of DH

Cleveland at Detroit (+105) Game 2 of DH, 4:10 EST

I like the Tigers game two of today’s DH due to one thing: Cleveland’s Eduardo Rodriguez is 0-2 this season. He’s completed 16 innings with a 4.50 ERA. This is a great opportunity for Detroit to attack a struggling pitcher early on in the season.

Pick: Tigers (+105)
