Pirates (+115) at Detroit
The Pirates finally won a game on Sunday to end their horrific skid, and had a day off to ponder it.
The good news for Pittsburgh is that after all that losing (13 of 15 games), they are still in second place in the N.L. Central and just a game back of Milwaukee. Pittsburgh beats teams with a losing record. That would be Detroit, at 18-21.
Pick: Pirates (+115)
Seattle (-160) at Boston
The Red Sox are now losing every day. This is a streaky team and right now the streak is heading south.
The M’s Luis Castillo is rocking and rolling at 2.70 ERA and 52 K’s in 46 innings with a 0.99 WHIP.
On the flip, Nick Pivetta has been getting plastered with an ERA of 6.23.
Pick: Mariners (-160)
Cubs at Houston (-170)
The Cubs have coughed up three straight but their biggest problem is their bullpen is spent. A starter has not gone five innings in four games in a row. Houston is heating up and Christian Javier is just not finding that groove.
Pick: Astros (-170)
Cleveland (-125) at Chi-Sox
I can’t bet the White Sox or Lance Lynn. This team has deep rooted problems on so many levels. Fade Chicago through at least Memorial Day. Lynn is not spotting his heater and it’s getting hammered.
Pick: Cleveland (-125)
Royals at Pods (-1.5 runs -120)
The Padres are the League’s new bully: beat up the bottom feeders, then get blasted by the big boys.
Pick: Pods (-1.5 Runs, -120)
Phillies (-120) at Giants
Last start, I Darth Fadered Zack Wheeler and cashed my ticket. Tonight I’m going with him.
Wheeler’s tossing around K’s like Sunday morning pancakes.
Get this: the Giants are 1-6 in their last seven games against right-handed starters. Go get ‘em Zach-O!
Pick: Phillies (-120)
Reds at Rocks (-130)
The Reds are giving up gobs of runs and baserunners: 5.1 runs per game while allowing a .276 average and an on base percentage of .346 against them.
The Rocks have averaged 5.4 runs a game this season vs. southpaws.
Chase Anderson had a solid outing last time out.
