Indiana Fever at Atlanta Dream – In-Season Stats & Betting Trends

Fever Looking To Continue Momentum

The Fever didn’t exactly begin the season the way they’d hoped, as they dropped each of their first five games. But things have been trending upward for the Fever since that rough start. In fact, they have posted victories in each of their last three contests.

This includes an 88-81 victory over the Washington Mystics on Wednesday night. In that contest, reigning Rookie of the Year forward Aliyah Boston tied for team-high scoring honors with 22 points, connecting on eight of her 11 attempts from the floor. She also had eight boards and two dimes.

Kelsey Mitchell also finished with 22 points on an identical 8-for-11 from the field, including a 4-for-5 effort from beyond the arc. Caitlin Clark was no slouch either, as this year’s No. 1 overall pick finished with 18 points, a season-high 12 rebounds, and six assists, while NaLyssa Smith contributed 11 points and seven rebounds.

In addition to their current three-game winning streak, the Fever have notched four consecutive wins at home for the first time since August 2015.

Dream Looking To Get Back Into The Win Column Against Surging Fever

Meanwhile, the Dream have not been faring well as of late. After producing four wins across their first six contests, they have dropped five of their last seven games, including a 68-55 decision against the Minnesota Lynx on Wednesday night. To be objective, there is no shame in losing to a team that has the third-best record in the league heading into Friday night’s action.

In the loss to Minnesota, Tina Charles paced the team’s offense with 14 points and 10 rebounds but shot only 7-for-18 from the field. Nia Coffey and Haley Jones scored 11 points each while totaling a combined 14 rebounds for a Dream squad that had a difficult time scoring.

Atlanta shot 28.8 percent from the floor and just 17.4 percent (4-for-23) from the 3-point line. After scoring 30 points in the first half, the road team scored only 25 in the second half, including a pedestrian eight-point effort in the final frame.

Will the suddenly surging Fever win their fourth straight and take sole possession of the eighth spot in the playoff race, or can the offensively challenged Dream find a way to get back into the win column? Now that we have set the stage for this Eastern Conference showdown, let’s examine the betting trends for both sides.

The Spread

On the heels of their three-game winning streak, the Fever enter this matchup as a 2.5-point favorite (per Lineups.com). Here is a look at how both teams have fared against the spread this season.

  • The Dream are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games.
  • Atlanta has covered the spread only twice in its last eight home contests.
  • In their last 19 matchups against Indiana, the Dream are an impressive 13-5-1 against the spread.
  • The Fever are 1-4 ATS in their last five outings.
  • In its last five road contests against Atlanta, Indiana is 1-3-1 against the spread.

Prediction: Atlanta Dream (+2.5)

Over/Under

The projected over/under total for this matchup opened at 163.5 points (per 365scores.com). Here is why going with the “over” is the smart choice.

  • The total has gone OVER seven times in the Dream’s last 10 games against Indiana.
  • In Atlanta’s last nine home matchups against Indiana, the OVER total cashed in six times.
  • The total has gone OVER six times in the Fever’s last seven road games.
  • In the previous five meetings between these teams, they exceeded the points total for this matchup three times.

Prediction: OVER 163.5 points

Player Prop Bet

Fresh off her second career double-double, Caitlin Clark is my key player to watch in this Fever-Dream matchup. She currently has -120 odds of scoring more than 17.5 points and -110 odds of finishing with less than 17.5 points.

Here is a look at how her numbers stack up against the projected points total for this matchup.

  • On the season, Clark is averaging 16.3 points per contest.
  • In the previous meeting between these teams on June 13, Clark scored seven points on 3-for-11 shooting from the field, a season-low.
  • Clark has played against Eastern Conference teams 11 times this season, averaging 15.5 points per outing.
  • In eight road contests, the Fever guard is averaging 15.6 points per game.
  • Over her last five outings, Clark has averaged 17.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per contest, exceeding the points total for this matchup three times during that stretch.

Prediction: Caitlin Clark OVER 17.5 points
