North Carolina Vs. Kansas -4Â
I have not been a Jay-Hawks bandwagoner – but I am now. They systematically shredded a very well-disciplined and solid Villanova team from the start to finish. In fact, I would say the Wildcats were never in the game. Kansas played their best game of maybe the entire season on Saturday night. They have peaked their play at the right time. Timing is everything, and Kansas had a low-stress cakewalk of a game.
North Carolina has had a storybook run. Their upset of Duke in the greatest rivalry of all time was a classic slugfest. It also was emotionally draining. Can they reach back in their lunch pail and give another performance like that on such a quick turnaround?
The real match-up to watch in this game is the battle of the bigs: Kansas’ David McCormack at 6’10” down low vs. UNC’s Armando Bacot. Bacot has been a beast from game one of this tournament and his 40 boards in the last two games are eye-popping. Can McCormack keep up?
Kansas hit on all cylinders in slicing Villanova to what looked like a 12 seed (they came in a 2 seed). Kansas has too much speed, too many weapons, too many shooters, and too much depth for the Tar Heels.
We all want the dog to win, and it’s easy to take the points in a game like this. I learned a long time ago to bet on the better team in the NCAA championship game. Kansas is the better team. We all know that. Go with your head and not your heart.
PICK: Kansas -4
