Detroit Lions vs. Buffalo Bills — In-Season Stats & Betting Trends
It’s no secret that the Lions are the hottest team in the league right now. Last week, they defeated the Green Bay Packers by a narrow 34-31 margin, giving the franchise its first 11-game winning streak in franchise history. The teams were tied at 31 apiece late in the fourth quarter. Facing a fourth-and-1 at Green Bay’s 21-yard line with 43 seconds left to play, Lions coach Dan Campbell opted to go for it, and his gamble paid off, as David Montgomery gained seven yards on the play. This sequence allowed Jake Bates to hit the game-winning field goal as time expired.
“I just felt like we needed to end it on offense,” Campbell said via ESPN. “I did not want to give the ball back and I believed we could convert. I trust the O-line. I trust David.”
The victory enabled the Lions to remain one game ahead of the Minnesota Vikings and the Philadelphia Eagles for the top spot in the conference.
On the other side of the matchup, the Bills won seven straight games following a 3-2 start. Unfortunately, the impressive streak ended courtesy of a 44-42 loss against the Los Angeles Rams. Josh Allen did all he could, contributing 424 total yards — 342 through the air and 82 rushing yards. He also became the first player in NFL history to record three passing and three rushing touchdowns in the same game. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to help the Bills overcome a 17-point deficit entering the final frame.
Can Detroit churn out another victory, or will the Bills get back into the win column? Now that we have set the stage for this interconference showdown, let’s examine the betting trends for both teams.
