CONCACAF Gold Cup Predictions: USA vs. Jamaica
CONCACAF GOLD CUP PREDICTIONS: USA VS. JAMAICA – Barely a week after winning the CONCACAF Nations League, The United States Men’s National team will get back into action in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The USA will look to continue their Nations League form as they kick off their 2023 Gold Cup campaign when they take on Jamaica in Group A.
The USA are seen as favorites to win the group, but keep in mind that all Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, Sergino Dest, Giovanni Reyna, and Timothy Weah have been omitted from the lineup.
As a result, one of the men to watch in Brian Callaghan’s team will be Jesus Ferreira, who has already netted ten goals for Dallas in the new MLS season.

Jamaica failed to impress in back-to-back losses to Qatar and Jordan in friendly matches, but are the favorites to obtain 2nd place in Group A and move on to the knockout stages.
They will need to come out strong against the United States to set the tone for the remainder of the group stage. If they’re going to do so then they’ll need to improve their attacking.
They are winless and have struggled for goals over their previous 6 matches, having netted only 3 and conceding 9.

PROP BETS & BETTING TRENDS
- USA has won the Gold Cup 7 times and Jamaica has never won the Gold Cup.
- USA has a 19W-9D-3L record in 31 games against Jamaica in all competitions.
- USA has a 6W-0D-1L record in 7 games against Jamaica in the Gold Cup.
- USA is unbeaten in their last 6 games in all competitions keeping 4 clean sheets.
- 4 of the last 6 meetings between these two teams have produced under 2.5 goals.
- Jamaica are winless in their last 10 games in all competitions.
| USA to Win and Under 2.5 Total Goals (+265) |
Jamaica has won just 1 of their previous 8 international matches against the USA and from top to bottom the USA has a stronger roster.
Three of the last five matches between these two teams has produced under 2.5 goals. With the likes of Pulisic, McKennie, Dest, Reyna, and Weah all being omitted from the lineup, I just don’t see many goals coming in this match. I do think the USA will find a way to edge out a win here though.
| Spread/Total USA -1 (+120) |
I’m taking the United States to cover the 1-goal spread.
Jamaica just isn’t that good of a team and has lost to Team USA by multiple goals in 3 of their past 5 meetings. With the Americans riding their latest momentum wave, they have what it takes to create some separation here.

THE WORD
The United States has been impressive in 2023 and has only lost one game all year. They are strong favorites to win this match against Jamaica but Coach BJ Callaghan has dropped numerous stars from the roster which could make things interesting.
Jamaica on the other hand are winless in all competitions since June 2022 and have failed to score in 2 of the last 3 meetings against the USA. Jamaica does have the likes of Andre Blake, Michail Antonio, Cory Burke, Leon Bailey, and Demari Gray which could prove to be a tough test defensively for this very young USA team.
Given the USA’s excellent form, a home crowd, and the confidence stemming from the Nations League, I expect the reigning Gold Cup Champions to record a win here.
