Chicago Hoping To Sweep Season Series Against Wings

The Sky come into this matchup having won three of their previous five games. This includes a pair of double-digit wins over the Phoenix Mercury (104-85) and the Dallas Wings (104-89). 

Thanks to an offseason that saw the team lose several key players, coupled with the unexpected departure of former head coach/general manager, James Wade, Chicago has struggled this season. 

From an offensive standpoint, Chicago is a middle-of-the-pack team as it ranks 7th in scoring (80.1 PPG) and fifth in efficiency (101.7 points per 100 possessions. The narrative is somewhat similar at the other end of the court as the Sky are ranked 7th in scoring defense (82.9 PPG) and ninth in defensive rating (allowing 105.9 points per 100 possessions). 

The one factor the Sky have in their favor is they have won both games they have played against Dallas this season. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if they can stay locked in against an opponent they beat handily just a couple of days ago. 

Wings Looking To Rebound From Loss To Sky Just Two Days Ago

Meanwhile, the Wings come into this contest having dropped three of their past five games, including a 104-89 loss to the Sky on Friday.

To be objective, though, the Wings’ other two losses were against the Connecticut Sun and the Las Vegas Aces. With that being said, there is no shame in losing to two of the top three teams in the league. 

From a defensive perspective, Dallas is somewhat decent as it is ranked 6th points allowed (82.7 PPG) and seventh in defensive rating (103.6 points per 100 possessions). But when it comes to scoring, few teams can do it better than this team. Dallas is ranked third in both points (85.9 PPG) and efficiency (107.6 points per 100 possessions). 

Can Dallas get back into the win column on the strength of its scoring prowess, or will the Sky notch their second three-game winning streak of the season?

• The projected over/under total for this contest is 165 points. Here are a few trends that suggest why going with the OVER is the smart play. 
• The OVER is 7-1 for Chicago in its last eight games played on one day of rest.
• The OVER total has prevailed for the Sky in their last six contests against teams with a winning record. 
• The Under is 7-3 for Dallas in its last 10 games following an ATS loss
• The OVER has cashed in four times in the previous five matchups between these two teams.

Although there is no player prop bet available at the time of this writing, my key player to watch is Chicago Sky guard Kahleah Copper. She is averaging career-highs in points (19.1) and she is shooting 43.1 percent from 3-point range on 4.1 attempts per contest.

If the projected scoring total is 17.5 points or lower, go with the OVER as Copper as she has scored at least 17 points eight times in her last 10 outings.
