Chicago Sky at Indiana FeverIn-Season Stats & Betting Trends

Sky Looking To Snap Season-High Three-Game Losing Streak

The Sky were a .500 team through their first six games of the 2024 campaign. However,  they have dropped five of their six games, including an 83-81 loss to the Washington Mystics.

In that contest,  Chennedy Carter finished with a team-high 16 points and six rebounds off the bench on 6-for-9 shooting from the field in 18 minutes of action. Dana Evans chipped in with 14 points,  while Kamilla Cordoso and Angel Reese contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Chicago was thoroughly outplayed in the first half and trailed 59-44 at the break. However, they did trim the deficit to 81-79 at the 1:12 mark and had a chance to tie the game in the waning moments. Unfortunately, Marina Mabrey—who was shooting 83 percent at the charity stripe coming into this contest—missed a pair of free throws, allowing the Mystics to escape with a two-point victory.

Fever Still Seeking Elusive Two-Game Winning Streak

Meanwhile, the Fever have had their share of struggles as well, but they are starting to turn things around a bit. Sure, they posted losses in each of their first five games of the season. Since that time, though,  the Fever have won four of their last five games. This includes a 91-84 victory over the Atlanta Dream last week.

In that game, Aliyah Boston had her best performance of the season. She finished with 27 points on an efficient 12-for-21 effort from the field. She also tallied 13 rebounds and two assists.

Kelsey Mitchell pumped in 24 points on 7-for-14 shooting, including 3-for-7 from beyond the arc. Kate Samuelson added 11 points and three boards off the bench, while  NaLyssa Smith contributed 10 points and five rebounds.

Indiana led by as many as 15 points in the first half, and they enjoyed an 11-point advantage heading into the final frame. Things got a bit interesting in the fourth quarter, though, as the Fever went nearly five full minutes without scoring,  allowing Atlanta to take an 80-79 lead. But thanks to back-to-back shot clock violations, along with timely baskets by Mitchell and Boston, the Fever picked up their fourth win of the season.

Will Indiana finally post back-to-back victories for the first time this season, or will the Sky find a way to get back into the win column on the heels of three straight losses? Now that we have set the stage for this Eastern Conference showdown, let’s examine the betting trends for both sides.

The Spread

Following their seven-point win over Atlanta, the Fever enter this matchup as a two-point favorite (per Lineups.com). Here is a look at how both teams have fared against the spread this season.

  • The Fever are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games.
  • Indiana has covered the spread just three times in its last 13 home games against the Sky (3-8-2)
  • The Sky have failed to cover the spread five times in their last six contests.
  • In its last 10 matchups against the Fever,  Chicago is just 2-6-2 against the spread.

Prediction: Indiana Fever (-2)

Over/Under

The projected over/under total for this matchup opened at 165.5 points (per 365scores.com). Here is why going with the “over” is the smart choice.

  • The total has gone OVER seven times in the Fever’s last eight games.
  • The OVER total emerged victorious 11 times in the Fever’s last 12 contests against Chicago.
  • In Indiana’s last seven home games against the Sky, the OVER total cashed in six times.
  • The OVER total is 11-1 in the Sky’s last 12 matchups against Indiana.
  • In Chicago’s last seven road games against Indiana, the OVER total prevailed six times.

Prediction: UNDER 165.5 points

Player Prop Bet

Following her best outing of the season thus far, Aliyah Boston is my key player to watch in this matchup. She currently has -115 odds of scoring more than 13.5 points and -115 odds of finishing with less than 13.5 points.

Here is a look at how her numbers stack up against the projected points total for this matchup.

  • On the season, Boston is averaging 11.8 points per contest.
  • In the previous meeting between these teams a few weeks ago, Boston finished with 10 points.
  • Boston has played against Eastern Conference teams nine times this season, averaging 11.6 points per outing.
  • In eight road contests, the reigning Rookie of the Year forward is averaging 9.8 points per game.
  • Over her last five outings, Boston has averaged 13.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per contest, exceeding the points total for this matchup just once during that stretch.

Prediction: Aliyah Boston OVER 13.5 points
