Chelsea vs. Brighton & Hove Albion Game Analysis

CHELSEA VS. BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION GAME ANALYSIS – Following yet another disappointing defeat at Wolverhampton, Chelsea will look to get back on track when they welcome Brighton to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Blues are currently sitting in the middle of the table with little to play for in the Premier League. They are, however, still playing in the Champions League and that’s the basket they’re putting all of their eggs in at this point.

Brighton, on the other hand, are enjoying a season to remember, with the team currently sitting in 7th place with 2 games in hand.

Brighton will look to recover from a 2-1 loss against Tottenham, where they were blindsided by VAR on 2 separate occasions. In that match Brighton managed 65% possession and had 17 total shots.

Prop Bets

| Both Teams to Score Yes & Under 3.5 Total Goals (+195) |

In the previous 7 meetings between these 2 teams, both have scored in 6 of those games and 5 of them have had under 3.5 total goals.

Brighton have seen both teams score in 79% of their away matches this Premier League season. Chelsea have been held scoreless in their previous 3 Premier League games but Brighton aren’t necessarily known for keeping clean sheets.

With this game being at Stamford Bridge and despite their inability to finish, I do think that Chelsea will sneak one in the back of the net.

| First Half Double Chance – Tie or Brighton (-300) |

Brighton have not been losing at half time in 16 consecutive matches in all competitions.

They have only been losing at the end of the first half in 14% of their games. Brighton have also kept a first half clean sheet in 50% of their games, while Chelsea have only recorded a first half goal in 20% of their games.

So you can see why betting on Brighton in the first half is a solid choice.

Tips

  • Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount, Thiago Silva, and Armando Broja are all injury concerns for Chelsea.
  • Moder, Sarmiento, Lallana, and Lamptey are all injury concerns for Brighton.
  • Out of 11 previous meetings, Chelsea have won 6 matches, Brighton have won 1, and 4 have ended in a draw.
  • Previous matches between Chelsea and Brighton have averaged 2.6 goals while both teams have scored 55% of the time.
  • Chelsea have only won 2 of their previous 11 Premier League meetings.
  • Chelsea have not scored a goal in their previous 3 Premier League matches.
  • Brighton have only lost 2 games in their previous 12 Premier League matches.

The Word

This is a difficult game to predict. Chelsea are currently on a 4-game winless streak and have only won 1 game from their previous 6 at Stamford Bridge.

They have also been held scoreless in 3 straight Premier League games, so it is safe to say that Chelsea are in shambles at the moment. The team has a ton of talent, but their confidence is extremely low.

This matchup has ended in a draw 5 of the last 7 meetings, with 4 of those draws ending in a 1-1 scoreline. Probability and statistics show that 1-1 would be a solid bet.

Buuuut I’m staying on this Brighton train.

I think Brighton will get their goals. Brighton create a lot of chances and Chelsea are very poor at stopping teams from creating chances. Chelsea also have a big midweek clash in the Champions League against Real Madrid and are very likely to have tired legs coming into the weekend.

PREDICTION: CHELSEA 1 – 2 BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION
