The Minutemen almost seem set up to fail, and what’s worse, they’re set up to fail in a way that makes zero sense. It would be one thing if UMass was sending its football team out to get its brains beaten in every week for the good of its other sports, but it harms them.
It’s been a bad time to be a fan of football in and around New York. Over the past few seasons, the least embarrassing team to play in New Jersey has actually been Rutgers.
The Governor’s Cup will be in prime time as the Texans travel to Arlington to play the Cowboys. The Cowboys lead the series against the Texans with a 4-2 record since the Texans’ inaugural season in 2002. They also lead the series 13-8, dating back to 1960 when the Oilers and the Cowboys played. These teams met last in 2022, and the Cowboys won that game 27-23. Dallas fans do not have much to cheer for but will turn out in droves to root against the cross-state rival.
In the heart of Pittsburgh, the Steelers (7-2) and Ravens (7-3) renew their fierce rivalry with first place in the AFC North hanging in the balance. For the Steelers, this is an opportunity to solidify themselves as a true contender in the stacked AFC conference. While Baltimore looks to make a statement as arguably the best team in football with a win against their bitter foes.

UGA fights for their playoff hopes this Saturday in Athens against the #7 Tennessee Volunteers. Who would have thought that the Vols would come into this game ranked higher than UGA? After a crushing defeat at Ole Miss, UGA limps into this must-win game banged up and deflated. Tennessee is having an even better year than expected after beating Alabama at home again and defeating historic rival Florida in overtime. Their only loss comes against Arkansas on the road. Let’s break down this game.
It started perfectly for UGA. Then it became a disaster. Safety Dan Jackson intercepted Jaxon Dart in Ole Miss territory, which resulted in a Nate Frazier touchdown for the Dawgs to go up 7-0 early against the Rebels. With Dart headed to the locker room, it looked like UGA was prepared to throttle Ole Miss’ vaunted offense like they did to Texas.Â
