Ha ha ha. Mets suck right now. A game under .500, losers of four straight, and 6.5 GB of the Eastern crown. It’s the Padres of the NL East. All hat, no cattle. Atlanta loves to beat the Mets. Uncle Charlie says grab some pine.Â
Atlanta got back on track in Phoenix and now they come home to face a phony Mets team. Bryce Elder is going for the Braves and has been spitting bullets in his last several starts. The Mets don’t hit much to begin with, nor do they win very often in Atlanta.Â
Last year, Atlanta dominated the Mets over the final six weeks of the season by beating New York six out of seven in Georgia, which lifted the Braves to the NL East title by virtue of the tiebreaker. That proved critical when the Mets then lost to the San Diego Padres in the wild card round, ending their season before they even got a chance in the NLDS.Â
I hardly ever bet run totals, but this one jumps out. The Rangers are hitting the cover off the ball, garnering 15 and 19 hits respectively over their last two games and scoring 12 and 16 runs. Wow.Â
We went 3-3 yesterday and dropped -$35. It happens. No lamenting in baseball. W’ere on to Sunday!Â
John Fredericks: MLB Best Bets for Saturday, June 3. The Godzilla of Truth is serving up a platter of picks for Saturday.
St. Louis has got to get on a run to get back on track. Jack Flaherty has been on and off this season, but his last start may be the turnaround catalyst: seven innings and one run. Flaherty needs to be the Cards elixir.Â
The Dodgers haven’t lost a series at Dodger Stadium since April, and they’ve mostly ripped through their past five opponents in Los Angeles, going 13-2 in that stretch. Los Angeles has dominated at home ever since the Dodgers became one of the game’s best-run franchises, as they tend to win close to 75% of their home games. They also seldom lose two in a row, going 39-15 in their past 54 games after a loss.
