Bills Safety Damar Hamlin in Critical Condition after Cardiac Arrest
BILLS SAFETY DAMAR HAMLIN – Buffalo Bills Safety, Damar Hamlin, collapsed on the field during the Monday night game between the Bills and the Bengals.
The Bills announced that Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest on the field and is now in critical condition in a Cincinnati hospital.
Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition, the Bills announced via statement on Twitter.
Hamlin took a big hit in the chest area from Bengals receiver Tee Higgins, who was going up for a catch. The Bills safety stumbled after the play and collapsed. He remained unresponsive on the field for 15 minutes, while receiving CPR. Players huddled around each other for support and both teams retreated to the locker room as Hamlin was rushed to the hospital.
A little after 10 pm EST, the NFL announced a suspension of the game. Both teams packed up and left the stadium.

Game Suspension
There has been conflicting reports on what the N.F.L. planned to do with the game before they made the decision to suspend it. Bengals coach Zac Taylor and Bills coach Sean McDermott could be seen in front of the locker rooms trading a cellphone. Joe Buck announced that play would resume 5 minutes after Hamlin was carted off the field.
The N.F.L. disputed this claim. “Neither coach was thinking about resuming play, the players weren’t thinking about resuming play,” said Troy Vincent, the executive Vice President of the N.F.L.’s football operations.
Hamlin was a second-round pick out of Pittsburgh. He had been playing in the Bills starting lineup since September due to injuries to the Bills secondary.
Many players expressed their concern on Twitter for Hamlin’s health and safety.
My prayers and thoughts go out to @HamlinIsland the Hamlin Family. I’m praying that you pull through bro. Love 🙏🏾💙

More than a Game
There are many times on this website where we promote a fun and healthy relationship with sports, picking games, and wagering money where it’s legal.
Moments like these require us to pause and reflect on the humanity of the young men and women who play these games for our entertainment.
The strength that Hamlin has already shown as he fights through this is an incredible reminder of how impressive a life this young man has lived. Everyone at Godzilla Wins is praying for Hamlin’s health and safety.
