Finally. Finally. The Dawgs played to their potential. Tthe back-to-back national champions looked like a contender. UGA got off to a fast start and played four quarters of football.
Georgia’s lived dangerously this season in SEC play. With Kentucky coming to Athens, the Dawgs can’t afford another slow start.
Taylor picked the wrong tight end. The Georgia Bulldogs rode Brock Bowers to 8 catches for 157 yards, including a 40-yard game-winning score with under 3 minutes to go.
Hugh Freeze is back in the SEC to try and resurrect a program left in shambles after Bryan Harsin’s brief tenure. Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs are banged up, but still coming in with some momentum after a couple of disappointing performances against lesser opponents to begin the season.Â
Georgia opened the game with the fast start they had been missing so far this season. Carson Beck first turned to his transfer receivers to get things going finding a wide open Dom Lovett for a big gain to start the game, and later RaRa Thomas on a hitch.
Two years ago, Carson Beck was supposed to get the start against UAB. A poor week of preparation led Georgia to start Stetson Bennett, and the rest was history. Can Beck make amends for that this week?
For the third week in a row, Georgia started off slowly. The first half was full of self-inflicted wounds and avoidable mistakes. South Carolina managed to put together all the ingredients for an upset and Georgia went into half down 14-3 before rallying in the second half.
This is personal. I don’t know about you, but there is one distinct memory I have from last year’s game at South Carolina.
When expectations are sky high, 560 yards and 48 points may not be enough to placate a fan base. The Dawgs started slow, only scoring 17 in the first half as senior QB Carson Beck took to reigns of the offense.
