2024 Masters Best DFS Picks
2024 MASTERS BEST DFS PICKS – There are two mainstays to play DFS for golf: DraftKings and FanDuel. Each has its own scoring rules and variations, but they are similar. Here are DraftKings’ scoring rules and FanDuel’s scoring rules. I will always list my favorite golfer at the top and will use DraftKings budget to model my projections.
I will give you a few player props I like this Sunday on a 13-game slate! Also, check out the Godzilla Wins Daily Staff Picks page for other best picks!
Best Pick
Xander Schauffele $9,900
Augusta is consistently one of the most predictive courses on tour, which means players’ stats mean a lot more this week than others. Scoring on the par fives is the most vital criterion for golfers to meet along with strong iron play. Over three-quarters of approach shots are from 150+, so you must be able to hit irons into greens.
Xander Schauffele is a great option based on price. He has gained 28.9 strokes tee-to-green in his last four events heading into the week, which is third behind Scottie Scheffler and Hideki Matsuyama.
Scha is second in strokes gained: tee-to-green on the PGA Tour, averaging 1.817 in 25 measured rounds. He has struggled putting, which has been his downfall and a big reason why he has not won a major. Luckily, he does not have to be an elite putter to win here if he can keep his ball below the hole and leave himself uphill putts.
Other Picks
Hideki Matsuyama $9,000
I mentioned Matsuyama being ranked second in strokes gained: tee-to-green, which is typical for him. He has complete control of his irons and is coming into this week with great form.
Matsuyama fits into the same boat as Xander; his putting holds him back. If he can position himself well around this course, I see no reason he cannot finish in the top 10.
Cameron Young $8,500
It may sound like a theme of great iron players, and it is. Young fits into that same mold of consistent ball strikers who struggle to gain strokes putting. He ranks 18th on tour in strokes gained: TTG, but 117th in SG: putting.
Young also finished seventh last year in his second time playing in the Masters. He tends to step up for big tournaments, and I think he will do the same this week.
Shane Lowry $8,000
Lowry is undervalued at his price this week. He ranks fifth on tour in SG: TTG and seventh in total strokes gained. He has prior success at Augusta, finishing third in 2022, and has not been outside the top 25 in four years. His form is excellent, but the one thing that could hold him back this week is his distance off the tee.
Fairways are wide open at Augusta, which gives the longer hitters a slight advantage because they get shorter approach shots. Lowry still finds fairways at an incredible rate but will need to be dialed in with his irons to score this week.
Akshay Bhatia $7,200
Bhatia won last week at the Valero Texas Open but dislocated his shoulder while celebrating on the 72nd hole. He won in the playoff against Denny McCarthy, but his shoulder injury could scare off some of the chasers coming into this week.
I think it is a good spot for a golfer with great form. He is young at 22, and his play is not as consistent as it should be, but I expect him to be on point this week. Bhatia hits the ball a long way and is accurate. He also can hit a lot of different shots, which is something that will help a young golfer navigate around at Augusta. He is 16th on tour in SG: TTG, which bodes well for the debutant.
Si Woo Kim $7,100
Kim is making his eighth appearance at the Masters this week, with his best finish being 12th in 2022. He ranks fourth on tour in SG: TTG and 11th off the tee. Putting has been the weakest part of his game, but if Kim can keep it dialed with his irons, I see no reason Si Woo cannot pay off his price. He fits many of the trends of golfers with success, and at only 28, he has a ton of experience on this course.
